The nightclubs in Rome cluster in a few specific areas: Portonaccio to the east, Pietralata, EUR to the south and Montesacro to the north. Alongside the clubs themselves you’ll find concert halls, members’ clubs, summer venues on the Tiber and jazz clubs. This guide brings together 25 listings and gives the address, format and things to check before heading out for each one. For a wider look at the city after dark, see Rome at night.

Nightclubs in Rome: Indoor Clubs

These are the places built for dancing, with multiple rooms, serious sound systems and themed nights. Almost all of them are outside the center, in converted warehouses and depots. Hours, prices and guest lists change from night to night, so always check the listing or the official website.

Qube

Qube is at Via di Portonaccio 212, between Casal Bertone and Tiburtina station. It is one of the biggest dance venues in the city, spread over several rooms and floors. It hosts Muccassassina, the Friday queer night run by the Circolo Mario Mieli, from October to June. In the warmer months the night moves outdoors, as the listing explains.

Cieloterra

Cieloterra is at Via di Portonaccio 23, in a converted old depot. The neighborhood is all warehouses and high walls, and you won’t stumble on the place by accident. The space suits strobe lights, big sound systems and a packed dance floor. The old Animal Social Club used to be at the same address, as the listing notes.

Kasa Kumbas

Kasa Kumbas is at Via di Pietralata 149b. The official description presents it as a place to explore electronic dance music through musicians who experiment with the boundaries of club culture. If you want a commercial night out, this isn’t the spot. If you want to hear experimental electronic music, it’s the first one to look at.

Zoobar

Zoobar is a long-standing name in Rome clubbing for rock, dark, wave, EBM and psy. It is now in Montesacro, at Via Generale Roberto Bencivenga 1, near Piazza Sempione. That’s five musical families with different crowds and rituals, so check the night’s program before you go.

DROP Monti

DROP Monti is a cocktail bar with a underground room at Via Cavour 183, in the Monti district. It operates as an ARCI club, so you need a membership card to get in. You can have cocktails, play board games and, on special nights, dance to DJ sets.

Live Music Venues and Concert Clubs

Here the night revolves around the stage, though people often keep dancing after the show. Capacities are large and the program changes every week.

Orion Club

Orion Club is in Ciampino, at Viale John Fitzgerald Kennedy 52, just outside the Grande Raccordo Anulare ring road. The floor measures about 1,200 square meters, with two main rooms, a VIP area and a space for after-shows. The format is European-style live clubbing: a concert and a dance floor can share the same night.

Atlantico Live Club Roma

Atlantico is in EUR, at Viale dell’Oceano Atlantico 271 D, near the Palazzo dello Sport. Listed capacity runs from 2,500 to 4,000 people depending on the setup. It hosts concerts, electronic nights and stand-up comedy. For a club night, check that the program actually includes an electronic event.

Traffic

Traffic is at Via Prenestina 738. It’s the go-to for metal concerts, then doom, stoner and hardcore, with a few indie rock dates. It’s a single-room club with the stage close to the crowd, not a theater with numbered seats.

RCCB Init

RCCB Init is one of the places that has kept Rome’s live music scene going over the past twenty years. It has no facade worth photographing; what counts is the lineup. For the address and current dates, see the listing.

Outdoor Nightclubs in Rome, on the River and by the Sea

In summer, Rome’s nightlife moves outside. These venues are seasonal: they open in late spring and close when it gets cold, so always check the opening period.

Andrea Doria Club

Andrea Doria is a sports club, nightclub and summer concert space at Via del Baiardo 26, in Tor di Quinto, on the Tiber. To reach the DJ booth you cross a five-a-side soccer field, and the restrooms are in the locker rooms. The program mixes DJ sets and concerts.

River Bar

River Bar is the summer version of TAG, at Via di Santa Passera 25, on the right bank of the Tiber between Portuense and Magliana. In summer the river view stays and the music gets louder.

Parco Appio

Parco Appio is at Via dell’Almone 105, at the entrance to the Caffarella valley, inside the Appia Antica Regional Park. It has a kitchen, craft beer, live music and nights with records spinning late. The setup is seasonal and there’s no concrete.

Eur Social Park

Eur Social Park is along Via di Val Fiorita, in the EUR district, among the trees of the old Bibliotechina. It’s a summer space with music, a bar and food. The night starts when the sun goes down.

La Vela

La Vela is a beach club in Fregene, in the municipality of Fiumicino. It has an equipped beach, a restaurant with a veranda and a bar. Music nights are part of the format, from aperitivo to late night. It’s a trip out of the city, so confirm the address and hours on the listing.

Arca Swimming Club

We include it for clarity: Arca Swimming Club, at Via dei Monti Tiburtini 511 in Pietralata, is a sports club with an outdoor pool and members-only access. It is not a nightlife venue and the listing mentions no dance nights. It’s for anyone looking for outdoor sports in summer.

Neighborhood Spots and Alternative Nights

Not all nightclubs in Rome have a big dance floor. Many nights happen in bars, members’ clubs and hybrid spaces, where music shares the room with food or books.

LOA Acrobax

LOA Acrobax is a social center that has occupied the former greyhound track at Via della Vasca Navale 6, in the Marconi-Ostiense area, since November 2002. It hosts a community gym, a rehearsal room, reggae and dancehall concerts and club nights. Entry changes from event to event. The space is an occupation and its future is uncertain, so make sure the night is confirmed.

Balagan

Balagan is at Via della Torre Salaria 5, between Villa Ada and the Parioli district. It combines food, DJ sets and small live shows, with a Mediterranean and tropical feel. It works for anyone who wants to have dinner and then stay for the music.

Container San Lorenzo

Container is a bar with an outdoor courtyard and a heated indoor room at Via degli Etruschi 5, in San Lorenzo. It has DJ sets, singer-songwriters and open mics. The courtyard works on warm evenings, the indoor room in the colder months.

Underdog’s

Underdog’s, on Via dei Sabelli in San Lorenzo, combines a vinyl shop with a craft beer bar. You flip through records with a pint in hand. It’s a laid-back evening, not a dance floor.

Giove

Giove is at Via Ettore Giovenale 54, in Pigneto. By day it’s a coworking space, in the afternoon a bar, and in the evening it comes alive with live music. The listing also classifies it as a club and social space.

EXP

EXP is the bistro of Palazzo delle Esposizioni, at Via Nazionale 194A, with a second entrance at Via Milano 13. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday it stays open until 2:00 a.m., with presentations, live shows and DJ sets. It’s closed on Monday.

La Conventicola degli Ultramoderni

This is a cultural association at Via di Porta Labicana 32, in San Lorenzo. It offers cabaret, burlesque and café chantant with a live orchestra. Nights run Thursday to Saturday, entry is for members only and the venue closes in August.

Jazz Clubs for the Evening

If you’re not after a dance floor, there are three addresses devoted to live jazz, in very different parts of the city.

Alexanderplatz Jazz Club

It’s at Via Ostia 9, in the Prati district, near St. Peter’s. It opened in 1984 and is the oldest jazz club in Italy still in operation. It offers live music almost every night, in a basement with walls covered in signatures.

Gregory’s Jazz Club

Gregory’s is at Via Gregoriana 54/a, a few steps from Trinità dei Monti. Live jazz plays every night, with two sets, one early and one later. It also has an impressive whiskey collection.

Ellington Club

Ellington Club is at Via Anassimandro 15, in Pigneto. It has a stage, a kitchen open late and a cocktail bar. There is a single room with about 150 seats, recalling the American clubs of the 1920s and 1930s.
