Outdoor Swimming Pools Rome: Facilities in the City

Piscina Le Mura

This is an open-air pool in eastern Rome, in a pocket of green between Via Casilina and Via del Mandrione. From the pool edge, past the fence and the pines, you can see the arches of a real aqueduct, which run on for miles between workshops and railroad tracks. The name describes what’s in front of you while you swim. Prices and hours aren’t in the summary, so check the listing.

Piscina delle Rose

It’s on Viale America in the EUR district, near the artificial lake. The pool is full Olympic size, 50 by 25 meters, built between 1958 and 1960 for training and some of the water polo matches at the 1960 Rome Olympic Games. The name comes from the solarium next to the pool, decorated with rose-shaped motifs. The Palazzo dello Sport is close by.

The operating address is Via dei Gordiani 5, in Municipio V, but one park gate opens onto Via Casilina, between Torpignattara and Centocelle. Misleading Names

Three listings have “piscina” in the name, but they aren’t pools for swimming.

How to Choose Among Outdoor Swimming Pools Rome Has to Offer

Start with distance. In the city, clubs are often private: before you go, ask whether day entry is available or whether you need a membership card. Club pools are generally seasonal; Valentini, for example, opens roughly from May to September.

If you want thermal water, head outside Rome. Carletti is free and has no services. Terme dei Papi has a clear price list and doesn’t require a reservation. Pompeo needs a booking. Cretone may reopen in 2027.

With kids, the listings point to the children’s pool at Arca, Villa De Sanctis park and Zoomarine. To get there without a car, consider Metro B for Arca, Metro A for Forvm and regional trains for Bagni di Tivoli.
