The theater is reached by metro A to Flaminio and then by tram 2 to the terminus at Piazza Mancini, from which it is about 500 meters on foot along Viale del Pinturicchio. Pink Floyd Legend and Guy Pratt at Teatro Olimpico in brief
Remembering Richard Wright is on at Teatro Olimpico on February 18 and 19, 2027 at 20:30: Pink Floyd Legend, an Italian band born in 2005, share the stage with Guy Pratt, Pink Floyd's bassist since 1987, for a tribute to keyboardist Richard Wright.
Two nights
Thursday, February 18 and Friday, February 19, both at 20:30. The announced program is the same. Choosing between the two nights is a matter of schedule, with Friday, as you'd expect, selling first.
The repertoire
The official presentation announces Wright's most representative compositions, drawn from albums such as The Dark Side of the Moon, The Division Bell and The Piper at the Gates of Dawn. A complete setlist isn't published. Knowing Wright's catalog, it's reasonable to expect the tracks he wrote, but confirmation will come only in the hall.
Why it's an event
Many bands play Pink Floyd. Few can have next to them a musician who played with Pink Floyd for almost 30 years. Guy Pratt was the band's bassist from the A Momentary Lapse of Reason tour, played on The Division Bell and on The Endless River, and for years was Richard Wright's son-in-law. It's this bond, personal as well as musical, that gives the word tribute a precise meaning.
Remembering Richard Wright: the concert
Remembering Richard Wright is a concert dedicated to the memory of Pink Floyd's keyboardist and founder, whom Teatro Olimpico presents as the silent genius who shaped the band's sound with his harmonies and sensitivity.
An act of gratitude
The theater describes the evening as an emotional journey and a sincere tribute to one of the great architects of contemporary rock. Said without emphasis: it's a concert built around a musician who for decades stayed in the background compared with Roger Waters and David Gilmour, and who nonetheless wrote some of the band's most beloved pages.
Three albums cited
The Piper at the Gates of Dawn, from 1967, is Pink Floyd's first album, the one from the Syd Barrett era, in which Wright's organ draws the band's psychedelic sound. The Dark Side of the Moon, from 1973, contains two of his famous tracks, The Great Gig in the Sky and Us and Them. The Division Bell, from 1994, is the album of the full return, in which Wright is credited on five tracks and sings Wearing the Inside Out. Three records, three seasons of a career.
Guy Pratt on stage
Pratt played with Wright on the A Momentary Lapse of Reason and The Division Bell tours, and on the album The Division Bell. Seeing him on bass with an Italian band, dedicating the evening to that stage companion, is the reason this date doesn't resemble the others on the cover-band calendar.
Richard Wright, Pink Floyd's keyboardist
Richard William Wright, born in London on July 28, 1943 and died in London on September 15, 2008, was Pink Floyd's keyboardist, a band he founded with Syd Barrett, Roger Waters and Nick Mason.
Studies and jazz
Born into a well-off family in the London district of Hatch End, he took up the piano as a boy and took John Coltrane and Miles Davis as models. He also played trumpet, trombone and saxophone. He studied at the London College of Music and then architecture at the polytechnic on Regent Street, where he met Nick Mason and Roger Waters.
The Farfisa organ and the band's sound
After Barrett's departure in 1968 Wright became the group's melodic voice. His Farfisa Compact Duo organ, filtered through the Binson Echorec echo, characterizes Pink Floyd's sound in the late 1960s and early 1970s. He contributed decisively to the band's great long pieces: A Saucerful of Secrets, Echoes, Shine On You Crazy Diamond.
The tracks he wrote
Among his compositions: Remember a Day, Sysyphus, Summer '68, and above all The Great Gig in the Sky and Us and Them from The Dark Side of the Moon. In 1978 he released his first solo record, Wet Dream.
The departure and the return
During the recording of The Wall, in 1979, he was pushed out of the group after strong clashes with Waters. He still played at the 1980 and 1981 The Wall concerts as a salaried musician, and did not take part in The Final Cut. In 1986 Gilmour called him back for A Momentary Lapse of Reason, and on the following tour he returned as a band member. In 1996 his last solo record, Broken China, came out.
The last years
On July 2, 2005 he played at Live 8 in Hyde Park with Pink Floyd reunited, Waters included. Then he collaborated on Gilmour's On an Island and followed its 2006 tour. After his death Gilmour and Mason dedicated The Endless River to him, Pink Floyd's last record, released in 2014, in which Wright appears posthumously as musician and author.
Guy Pratt: biography of Pink Floyd's bassist
Guy Adam Pratt, born in London on January 3, 1962, is an English bassist, composer and author who has played with Pink Floyd, David Gilmour, Roxy Music, Madonna, Michael Jackson and dozens of other artists.
A child of the business
He was born in an apartment above a shop in The Cut, in Lambeth, and grew up in Peckham. His father, Mike Pratt, was an actor, songwriter and screenwriter, known as Randall in the TV series Randall and Hopkirk. He died when Guy was 14. Before music, Pratt worked as a graphic designer.
Icehouse and Bowie
In 1981, at 19, he was called on tour by the Australian band Icehouse, which was opening for David Bowie on the Serious Moonlight Tour. For his work with Icehouse he has received an ARIA Award.
Almost a Smith
In 1986 Johnny Marr asked him to replace Andy Rourke for the Smiths' North American tour, fearing the bassist would be denied a visa. Pratt rehearsed with the band for almost two weeks. Then the visas came through and the replacement was no longer needed.
Meeting Gilmour
Playing with the Dream Academy, produced by David Gilmour, he met Pink Floyd's guitarist. Gilmour called him for the A Momentary Lapse of Reason tour, after Waters's departure. Pratt has said he didn't feel like Waters's replacement, whom he considered the band's great conceptual mind more than its bassist. From there came the 1988 live album Delicate Sound of Thunder, the album The Division Bell and the 1994 tour, the 1995 live album Pulse and The Endless River in 2014.
Madonna, Michael Jackson, Roxy Music
His bass is on Madonna's Like a Prayer, from 1989, and on Michael Jackson's Earth Song, from 1995. He has played on Bryan Ferry's Bête Noire, Mamouna, Dylanesque, Olympia and Avonmore, on records by Robert Palmer, Kirsty MacColl, Tears for Fears, Debbie Harry, Rod Stewart, Tom Jones, Echo and the Bunnymen, Iggy Pop, Gary Moore, Whitesnake, and even on Paola and Chiara's Festival, in 2002. With A. R. Rahman he worked on the song Dil Se Re.
Toy Matinee, soundtracks, television
In 1988 he founded Toy Matinee with Patrick Leonard, whose only album came out in 1990. He has worked on the soundtracks of Dick Tracy, Last Action Hero, Hackers, Still Crazy and Johnny English Reborn. With others he co-wrote Jimmy Nail's Ain't No Doubt, which reached number one in the UK, and with Dom Beken the theme of the series Spaced, in which he also acted. He has been nominated twice for the Ivor Novello Awards.
The comedian and the author
In August 2005 he made his debut at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe with My Bass and Other Animals, a one-man show of music and comedy, and in 2007 he published a memoir with the same title. Since 2020 he has hosted with Gary Kemp the podcast Rockonteurs, in which great musicians tell the story of their careers.
Saucerful of Secrets and Gilmour today
In 2018 he is among the founders of Nick Mason's Saucerful of Secrets, the band of Pink Floyd's drummer devoted to the early psychedelic repertoire, with Gary Kemp, Lee Harris and Dom Beken. In 2020 the live album Live at the Roundhouse comes out. He continues to play with Gilmour: he is on Rattle That Lock, Live at Pompeii and Luck and Strange, from 2024.
The bond with Wright
In 1996 Pratt married Gala Wright, a furniture designer and daughter of Richard Wright. The couple has a son and later divorced. It's the detail that turns Remembering Richard Wright from the title of a concert into a family memory.
Pink Floyd Legend: the Italian band
Pink Floyd Legend are an Italian band born in 2005, produced by Menti Associate, who recreate live the concerts and albums of Pink Floyd based on the study of the scores and of the original performances.
Atom Heart Mother and the sell-outs
Since 2012 they have staged Atom Heart Mother, the suite for orchestra and choir, with a declared sell-out at every performance. In 2016 they perform it at the Sferisterio in Macerata with an orchestra and choir of 140 members. They toured The Dark Side of the Moon with Durga McBroom, Pink Floyd backing singer since 1987.
The Final Cut at Anzio
In 2015 they perform The Final Cut in full, in a world premiere, for the 70th anniversary of the Anzio landing, in the presence of Roger Waters. In 2017 the project Roger Waters Night is born, dedicated to the bassist and to his father Eric Fletcher Waters, who died precisely at Anzio.
Rome, Pompeii, Tor Vergata
In 2016 they bring Live at Pompeii back to the stage of the Roman Theater of Ostia Antica. In 2017 they celebrate 40 years of Animals at Auditorium Conciliazione and organize the Pink Floyd Legend Day with Gary Wallis, Claudia Fontaine and Durga McBroom, musicians of The Division Bell tour. On June 21, 2022 they open the celebrations for the 40th anniversary of Tor Vergata University, with an orchestra of 17 members.
Shine, The Wall and the week at Olimpico
In 2019 they debut at Ravenna Festival with Shine Pink Floyd Moon, directed by Micha van Hoecke. In 2023 the show returns with Raffaele Paganini and directed by Miki Matsuse. In 2024 the Pink Floyd Legend Week brings more than 7,000 spectators to Teatro Olimpico in five days, with six albums performed in full, including The Final Cut with Harry Waters. In 2025 the tour of The Wall debuts.
Teatro Olimpico: the stage of Pink Floyd Legend
Teatro Olimpico in Piazza Gentile da Fabriano has been active as a movie theater since 1936 and under this name since 1981. It stands on Lungotevere Flaminio, across from Ponte della Musica, and is the main venue of the Accademia Filarmonica Romana.
The 1930s
The building was built between 1935 and 1936 by the firm Garbarino, Sciaccaluga and Mezzacane for the Società Generale Immobiliare, in the same years as Foro Italico. Until the 1950s it was mostly a movie theater, with variety shows in the intervals.
The 1980 subscription
When the owning company went bankrupt at the end of the 1970s, Adriana Panni, president of the Filarmonica, promoted a subscription drive among citizens. Teatro Olimpico spa was born and in 1980 bought the theater. Since 1981 the program has welcomed drama, dance, comedy and pop music.
The hall
There are 1,410 seats: 966 in the orchestra, on sloping rows arranged like an amphitheater, and 444 in the gallery, horseshoe-shaped. The stage is about 10 meters deep and 12 wide, with an orchestra pit. For a band that works on sound and lights like Pink Floyd Legend, it's a hall of the right size: big enough for impact, intimate enough for listening.
Tickets and prices for Pink Floyd Legend and Guy Pratt
Tickets for Pink Floyd Legend and Guy Pratt at Teatro Olimpico cost from €29 to €48 plus a presale fee, according to the price list published by the theater.
The price list
Poltronissima gold €48 plus €7 presale fee. Poltronissima laterale €45 plus €6.80. Poltrona €40 plus €6. Balconata €40 plus €6. Balconata with balustrade €39 plus €5.90. Balconata laterale €33 plus €5. Balconata laterale with balustrade €29 plus €4.40. The presale fee is always required when the ticket is issued.
Where to buy them
On Teatro Olimpico's official website, which links to its sales system, at the box office or through the presale network authorized by the organizers. For information: biglietti@teatroolimpico.it.
Where to sit to listen
For a Pink Floyd concert, listening matters as much as seeing. The central balconata, at the same price as the poltrona, offers a more balanced sound and a complete view of the lights. Poltronissima gold makes sense for those who want to see Pratt's hands on the bass up close. The sections with balustrade cost less but have reduced visibility.
How to get to Teatro Olimpico for Pink Floyd Legend
Teatro Olimpico is reached by metro A to Flaminio and tram 2 to Piazza Mancini, then about 500 meters on foot along Viale del Pinturicchio.
Metro A and tram 2
From Piazzale Flaminio tram 2 takes you to Piazza Mancini in a few minutes, and from there Viale del Pinturicchio leads to Piazza Gentile da Fabriano. From Termini: metro A to Flaminio, then the tram. The Roma Nord railway also arrives at Flaminio.
Buses
The lines listed by the theater are 220, 232, 233, 280, 301, 446, 48, 910 and 911. The 910 from Termini stops at Pannini, about 300 meters away. Lines 200, 201 and 53, and the night bus n24, also arrive at Piazza Mancini.
By car
From the center: Viale del Muro Torto, Piazzale Flaminio, Via Luisa di Savoia, Lungotevere Arnaldo da Brescia and Lungotevere delle Navi to Lungotevere Flaminio. From the north: Lungotevere Maresciallo Diaz, Ponte Duca d'Aosta and then right. On Friday night parking is difficult, so public transit is better.
How to plan the evening of Pink Floyd Legend
With a 20:30 start on Thursday or Friday, the evening of Pink Floyd Legend and Guy Pratt is planned around getting to Flaminio when you get off work.
Before the concert
In mid-February it gets dark early. Those with time can stop by MAXXI or Auditorium Parco della Musica, then have dinner in the area around 19:00. Listening to The Division Bell in headphones on the tram is a good warm-up.
After the concert
The length isn't published. On the way back, tram 2 and Piazza Mancini lines are the simplest choice. On Friday, anyone who wants to stay out late finds places open until late at night at Milvian Bridge.
Where to eat before or after Pink Floyd Legend
Around Teatro Olimpico, between Piazza Mancini, Via Flaminia and Piazza Gentile da Fabriano, there are pizzerias, trattorias and bars frequented by the theater and Auditorium crowds.
Before 20:30
Dinner at 19:00 is the right time. The audience of a Pink Floyd concert is largely adult and arrives as a couple or in groups: the tables near the theater fill up between 19:00 and 20:00.
After the concert
On Thursday the neighborhood empties early. On Friday Ponte Milvio stays lively until late and is the solution for those who want to talk over the evening over a plate of food.
Accessibility at Teatro Olimpico
Those with reduced mobility who want to attend the Pink Floyd Legend concert at Teatro Olimpico must contact the box office before buying, at biglietti@teatroolimpico.it.
What to ask
Which seats are suitable, how to get into the hall, what conditions apply for companions. The orchestra is sloped, the gallery on the upper floor.
Volume and lights
A rock concert in a theater has loud volumes and intense stage lights. Those sensitive to sound are better off in the balconata, farther from the speakers.
Flaminio around Pink Floyd Legend
Teatro Olimpico is in the Flaminio neighborhood, north of Piazza del Popolo, where Auditorium, MAXXI, Ponte della Musica and Foro Italico form a compact cultural hub.
Along the river
Ponte della Musica, across from the theater, crosses the Tiber toward Foro Italico. A short walk before the concert, with the dark river below, is the right introduction to an evening of music that has made darkness and space its themes.
Toward the center
Along Via Flaminia you meet the National Etruscan Museum of Villa Giulia, on the edge of Villa Borghese, and then Piazza del Popolo.
Pink Floyd Legend in the Teatro Olimpico season
The Pink Floyd Legend and Guy Pratt concert comes to Teatro Olimpico after Back To Hawkins, on February 17, and before Alessandro Bergonzoni with Arrivano i Dunque, on February 20 and 21.
A return
The theater presents the evening as a return of Pink Floyd Legend to Rome. For Olimpico it's a return in the strict sense: in 2024 the Pink Floyd Legend Week filled this hall for five days in a row.
After February
The season continues with Momix and Botanica, and the same winter hosts Slava's Snowshow.
A curiosity about Pink Floyd Legend and Guy Pratt at Teatro Olimpico, February 18 and 19, 2027
The curiosity is a family one. In 1996 Guy Pratt married Gala Wright, daughter of Richard Wright: for years Pink Floyd's bassist was the son-in-law of Pink Floyd's keyboardist. The couple has a son, Wright's grandson, and later divorced. When Pratt goes on stage for a concert titled Remembering Richard Wright, he's not only remembering a colleague, he's remembering his son's grandfather. It's a level of closeness that no other musician around can bring to a tribute of this kind.
Second curiosity: Pratt came close to becoming the Smiths' bassist. In 1986 Johnny Marr called him to replace Andy Rourke on the North American tour. Pratt rehearsed with the band for almost two weeks, then Rourke's visas arrived. A year later he was on tour with Pink Floyd.
Third curiosity, a lighter one. Pratt is also a comedian: in 2005 he brought to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe My Bass and Other Animals, a show in which he told the story of his life as a session player with a bass in his hands. Those who see him at Olimpico will have in front of them a musician used to talking to the audience: don't be surprised if an anecdote comes between one song and the next.
Something nobody tells you about Pink Floyd Legend and Guy Pratt at Teatro Olimpico, February 18 and 19, 2027
What isn't said is that Richard Wright stayed out of Pink Floyd precisely in the years of The Wall. During the sessions for The Wall, in 1979, clashes with Roger Waters led to his exclusion. At the 1980 and 1981 concerts he played as a salaried musician, and he didn't take part at all in The Final Cut. And yet, together with Nick Mason, he is the only member to have played at every concert held under Pink Floyd's name, because The Final Cut had no tour.
There's a paradox in this story, and it concerns precisely Pink Floyd Legend. The Italian band is the one that in 2015 performed in full The Final Cut, Pink Floyd's only album without Wright, in the presence of Waters, at Anzio. 12 years later it dedicates an evening to Wright, with beside it the bassist who joined Pink Floyd just when Wright was coming back, in 1987. Those who know the band's history know that in that return lies the key to Pink Floyd's second life. Those who don't, in the hall, will hear it played.
The advice I give you for visiting Pink Floyd Legend and Guy Pratt at Teatro Olimpico, February 18 and 19, 2027
First piece of advice: prepare by listening to the right things. Not The Wall, not Another Brick in the Wall: listen to Us and Them, The Great Gig in the Sky, Summer '68, and Wearing the Inside Out from The Division Bell, sung by Wright himself. You'll arrive in the hall knowing who is being talked about, and the concert will give you much more back.
Second piece of advice, on the spot. The central balconata costs the same as the poltrona and for a rock concert in a theater it often offers the most balanced sound, along with the complete view of the lighting design, which at Pink Floyd concerts is part of the music. Poltronissima gold, at €48 plus presale fee, is for those who want to see Guy Pratt up close.
Third piece of advice: if you can, choose Thursday. Friday sells first, the neighborhood is more crowded and parking becomes an undertaking. Thursday is quieter, and the music is the same.
Last piece of advice: stay until the last applause. In an evening dedicated to a departed musician, the moment when the band and Pratt greet the audience is part of the tribute.
Another well-known fact, yet rarely mentioned
It's known that The Dark Side of the Moon is Pink Floyd's most famous record. It's less remembered that two of its best-loved tracks are by Richard Wright: The Great Gig in the Sky, entirely his, and the music of Us and Them, with its piano. Without those two tracks, the record would be a different record. It's the heart of the February 18 and 19 evening, and the reason the title talks about remembrance more than celebration.
Another known fact that's rarely mentioned: Guy Pratt has not played only progressive rock. His bass is on Madonna's Like a Prayer and Michael Jackson's Earth Song, two singles everyone knows. He has worked with Bryan Ferry on five albums, with Robert Palmer, with Tears for Fears, with Iggy Pop, and even with Paola and Chiara. Few musicians have crossed pop and rock with as much ease.
And a fact about the hall. In 2024 Pink Floyd Legend brought more than 7,000 spectators to Teatro Olimpico in five days, performing six Pink Floyd albums in full: a week that few Italian theaters can claim for a band that plays other people's music. The 2027 return fits into a mutual loyalty between the band and the stage in Piazza Gentile da Fabriano.
The right photo to take at Pink Floyd Legend and Guy Pratt at Teatro Olimpico, February 18 and 19, 2027
The right photo is taken on Ponte della Musica, across from the theater, before the concert. In February, at 20:00, it's pitch dark: the lights of the bridge, the dark Tiber, the theater's facade on the other side. It's a night image, long and a little melancholy: perfect for an evening dedicated to Wright.
The second photo is the facade of Olimpico with the audience waiting, from the opposite side of the square, 20 minutes before the start. The Pink Floyd audience wears shirts from historic tours: it's a small archive of rock lining up.
Inside the hall, the theater's rules on filming apply. In a concert built also on lights, a lit screen in the orchestra takes something away from those sitting behind, and the photo will never give back what you see.
If you want a different souvenir, photograph in the foyer the historic sets kept by the theater: Cagli's gilded forms or Manzù's backdrop. Next to the ticket of a Pink Floyd concert, they tell better than any selfie what Olimpico is.
Some important events that took place here in history
On March 4, 1965 Pierre Boulez conducted at Teatro Olimpico the Italian premiere of Igor Stravinsky's Abraham and Isaac and the European premiere of his Elegy for Kennedy: the most important date in the hall's musical history.
In the 1960s and 1970s Olimpico hosted productions in which art and music met: Stravinsky's Histoire du soldat in October 1966, with Manzù's backdrop, Castiglioni's Tre misteri in 1968, with Mirko's sculpture, and Stravinsky's Mass in October 1975, with Cagli's forms.
In 1980 Teatro Olimpico spa was born, and from 1981 the program opens to pop music and dance. In February 1988 Marillion arrive, in October 1994 Pooh, and in April of the same year Lucio Dalla. In the 1990s Baryshnikov and the Bolshoi arrive. In the 2009/2010 season the Agis rankings place Olimpico second in Rome for number of spectators.
And in 2024 the Pink Floyd Legend Week: five days, six complete albums, over 7,000 spectators, and on stage also Harry Waters for The Final Cut. In the hall's recent history it's a chapter that bears directly on the February 18 and 19 evening.
Who has passed through Pink Floyd Legend and Guy Pratt at Teatro Olimpico, February 18 and 19, 2027
Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli, Jessye Norman, Zubin Mehta, Giuseppe Sinopoli, Luigi Dallapiccola and Pierre Boulez have appeared on Olimpico's stage, for the long season of the Accademia Filarmonica Romana. For pop music, Marillion, Pooh, Lucio Dalla, Nomadi and Giorgio Gaber. For dance, Baryshnikov, Joaquín Cortés, Lindsay Kemp, Maurice Béjart, the Bolshoi, Antonio Gades and Momix. The theater also remembers Dario Fo, Nicola Piovani, Gigi Proietti and Enrico Brignano.
From the history of Pink Floyd Legend, Harry Waters has passed through Olimpico, guest of The Final Cut in 2024. In the band's biography appear Durga McBroom, Claudia Fontaine and Gary Wallis, musicians from Pink Floyd's tours, Carlo Massarini and Andrea Scanzi as narrators, Raffaele Paganini and Micha van Hoecke for Shine.
And from Guy Pratt's life pass David Bowie, whose Serious Moonlight Tour concerts Icehouse opened, Johnny Marr, David Gilmour, Nick Mason, Madonna, Michael Jackson, Bryan Ferry, Gary Kemp. Above all Richard Wright, stage companion from 1987 and then father-in-law. On February 18 and 19 all these names, in a way, pass through Piazza Gentile da Fabriano.

Final advice on Pink Floyd Legend and Guy Pratt at Teatro Olimpico
Go to hear Wright through someone who knew him. Listen to Us and Them again before heading out, choose the central balconata, prefer Thursday if you can, and arrive by tram. There are plenty of cover bands. An evening in which Pink Floyd's bassist remembers his father-in-law, playing his music in a theater that the Italian band has already filled for a whole week, rarely happens.
