Haken play in Rome on Sunday, October 4, 2026 at Largo Venue, at Via Biordo Michelotti 2, in the Pigneto area, in Municipio V. The organizer, Barley Arts, lists the start at 20:30 and the end around 23:00. You get there by Metro C, stops Pigneto or Malatesta, or by buses 81 and 412 to the Gattamelata stop. The ticket is a single one, standing, at €35 plus presale fees, and it is bought on the presale circuit authorized by the organizer, listed on the promoter's website. It is the only Rome date of the autumn tour that accompanies the new music of the English band, after the Milan night on October 3.

Haken in Rome: Date, Times and Tickets

The Haken concert in Rome is set for Sunday, October 4, 2026 at Largo Venue, starting at 20:30. The listing from the promoter Barley Arts gives a window from 20:30 to 23:00, a typical formula for a club night with a single band or a short opening act.

The Times

20:30 is the start time communicated by the organizer. The tourism portal of Roma Capitale gives 21:00 in its listing. The difference is small, but if you want a spot near the stage you do well to go by the earlier time and arrive when doors open. In a standing club, position is earned early.

Tickets and Prices

The price published by the promoter is €35 plus presale, for the single standing section. Sales have been open since June 5, 2026 on the circuit indicated by the organizer. There are no numbered seats: at Largo you listen standing, as in the European clubs where the band grew up.

The Two Italian Dates

The tour touches Italy twice. On Saturday, October 3, Haken play at Magazzini Generali in Milan, on Sunday, October 4 at Largo Venue in Rome. For audiences in the Center and South, the Rome date is the only chance on this European run.

In a Fever Dream, the New Music Bringing Haken to Rome

The autumn tour is to present In a Fever Dream, Haken's first new material after three years of recording silence. The promoter describes it as the start of a new chapter for the band, with some of the most intense and direct songs of its career.

Three Singles and an EP

On May 21, 2026 the single In a Fever Dream came out, which also gives its title to the band's second EP. On June 11 came Bleeding Sky, and on July 1 Delirium, with the announcement of the EP release on July 17. Three songs in six weeks: an unusual release pace for a band used to working on long albums and concepts built over years.

The Guest Bassists

On the new songs the bass is entrusted to notable guests. On In a Fever Dream Bryan Beller plays, on Bleeding Sky Adam Getgood, known as Nolly, formerly of Periphery. It is the direct consequence of the lineup change announced in January, discussed further below.

What to Expect Live

The setlist for the night isn't published. The repertoire the band draws from is known, though: seven studio albums, from Aquarius to Fauna, and now the songs of the EP. On the 2024 tour Haken played Fauna in full in the first half and a selection from the six previous records in the second. For 2026 expect the new pieces alongside the titles the audience knows by heart.

Who Haken Are: The Biography

Haken are an English progressive metal band formed in London in 2007, now considered one of the reference names of the genre. Their style combines technique, experimentation and refined melodies, with influences ranging from progressive rock to jazz fusion to classical music.

The Bedrooms of 2004

It all begins with three friends from adolescence: the multi-instrumentalist Richard Henshall, the guitarist Matthew Marshall and the singer Ross Jennings. In 2004 they play together in home sessions, which they themselves called bedroom jams. They consider them a pastime, and choose to study their instruments first. They find each other again three years later, in 2007, to really found the band.

The Name

The name Haken has no hidden meanings. Henshall has said many times that it was the name of a character invented with some friends back in school. A teenage prank turned into the brand of one of the most cerebral bands on the European scene: the contrast says a lot about the band's irony.

Jennings, from Guitarist to Voice

In the early days Ross Jennings splits off from the other two, because their guitar technique is far beyond his. He is then called back with a different role: singer only. It is the voice the audience knows today, and one of the most recognizable timbres of contemporary progressive.

The First Lineup

The group is completed by a keyboardist met on an online forum, Pete Jones, and by his friend Raymond Hearne on drums. On bass comes Thomas MacLean, guitarist of To-Mera. In 2007 a first demo comes out, in 2008 the long demo Enter the 5th Dimension. In the same year Marshall and Jones leave: Jones dedicates himself to studies in theoretical physics and data science.

Griffiths and Tejeida

In come Charlie Griffiths, guitarist of Linear Sphere and Anchorhead, who leaves Linear Sphere to look for a different direction, and the keyboardist Diego Tejeida, who arrives after an audition at the end of 2008. It is the lineup that will record the first albums.

Aquarius and Visions

Ken Golden of Sensory Records offers the band a contract on a recommendation. The first album, Aquarius, comes out in March 2010 and gets positive reviews from AllMusic and Classic Rock. The second, Visions, arrives in October 2011. Already at this stage the magazine Classic Rock Presents Prog puts one of their songs on the accompanying CD, and the band opens concerts for King's X and Bigelf.

The Mountain

The third album, The Mountain, is announced on June 20, 2013 and comes out on September 2 on Inside Out Music, mixed and mastered by Jens Bogren. It is the record that brings Haken to an international audience. A few weeks later MacLean announces his departure from the band, after the Prog Stage Festival in Israel in October 2013. In his place, after a series of auditions, comes Conner Green.

Restoration

On October 27, 2014 the EP Restoration comes out, with three songs reworked from the old demo Enter the 5th Dimension. Darkest Light, a new version of Blind, is accompanied by a video with images from the recordings. In the same period the band announces it has started writing the fourth album.

Affinity

On February 9, 2016 a press release and a dedicated website, Haken OS 4.0.1, present Affinity. For months the teasers jokingly call it Verbatim. The single Initiate comes out on March 18, the album on April 29, 2016 on Inside Out. It is considered the first record in which all the members take part in the writing. In parallel Jennings starts the project Novena, with the EP Secondary Genesis.

With Mike Portnoy

In 2017 Haken become the band of Mike Portnoy, longtime drummer of Dream Theater, together with the guitarist Eric Gillette of the Neal Morse Band. The project is called Mike Portnoy's Shattered Fortress and performs the 12-step Suite in full, plus other Dream Theater songs. In the same year the band reissues the first two albums.

L-1VE, Vector and Virus

On June 22, 2018 the first live album, L-1VE, comes out, recorded and filmed on April 13, 2017 at the Melkweg in Amsterdam during the 10th anniversary tour, with audio mixing by Jerry Guidroz. On October 26, 2018 comes Vector, well received by critics. In 2019 Henshall releases a solo record, The Cocoon, with Jennings as a guest on one song. Virus, the sixth album, linked to Vector, comes out on July 24, 2020 after some delays. The Japanese edition adds an acoustic version of Canary Yellow with Courtney Swain of Bent Knee.

The Return of Pete Jones and Fauna

On November 22, 2021 Tejeida leaves the band over very different musical visions. In 2022 the founding keyboardist Pete Jones returns, after 14 years. The single Nightingale comes out on April 26, 2022. In February 2023 the European tour starts, paired with Between the Buried and Me. The seventh album, Fauna, comes out on March 3, 2023, preceded by an online game that offered an excerpt of The Alphabet of Me and the cover as prizes.

An Evening with Haken and Liveforms

In 2024 the band tours North America, the United Kingdom and Europe with the format An Evening with Haken: Fauna in full, then a selection of songs from the six previous albums. The London date of September 21, 2024 at the O2 Forum Kentish Town becomes the live video Liveforms: An Evening with Haken, released on May 9, 2025.

2025 and the Lineup Change

In June 2025 Coheed and Cambria announce Haken as the support act for their British tour in October. On October 7, a few days before the start, the band withdraws for reasons outside its control. On January 5, 2026 comes the announcement of the departure of Charlie Griffiths and Conner Green, after 18 and 12 years of activity. The statement promises new music within the year: the promise is kept in May.

Today's Lineup

The current core is made up of Ross Jennings on vocals, Richard Henshall on guitars and keyboards, Raymond Hearne on drums, who on some songs also plays the tuba, and Pete Jones on keyboards. Live, in 2026, Freddie Draper appears on bass. Three of the four steady members are the same kids from the 2004 jams.

The Essential Discography

Studio albums: Aquarius (2010), Visions (2011), The Mountain (2013), Affinity (2016), Vector (2018), Virus (2020), Fauna (2023). EPs: Restoration (2014) and In a Fever Dream (2026). Live: L-1VE (2018) and Liveforms: An Evening with Haken (2025). If you come to the concert without knowing them, you can start with The Mountain and Affinity: they are the two records that best explain the band.

The Haken Sound: What You Hear Live

Haken's progressive metal is made of odd time signatures, changes of atmosphere, long suites and very singable choruses. Their quality, compared to many colleagues, is melody: even in the most complex songs there is always a vocal line to follow.

How a Song Is Born

Henshall explained in a 2014 Q&A session with fans that he usually writes the first arrangements in MIDI. Then the band brings the pieces into the rehearsal room and changes them together until everyone is satisfied. It's a composer's method more than a rock band's, and you can hear it: the instrumental parts are fitted together with an almost orchestral precision.

The Influences

The promoter speaks of influences ranging from progressive rock to jazz fusion to classical. Live you notice it in the keyboard parts, in the unisons between guitar and synth, in the almost chamber-like openings before the rhythmic explosions. Hearne's tuba, when it appears, is the ironic signature of a band that takes the music seriously and itself not much.

For Those Who Don't Know the Genre

A clear piece of advice: you don't need to be a prog expert to enjoy a Haken concert. You need patience for the first minutes of each song, when the structure isn't clear yet. Then the chorus arrives, and the audience sings it.

A Curiosity About Haken at Largo Venue, October 4, 2026

The tastiest curiosity concerns the keyboardist the Roman audience will see on stage. Pete Jones is one of the founders of Haken: it was he, met on an online forum, who completed the first lineup in 2007, bringing along his friend Raymond Hearne, still the band's drummer today. In 2008, though, he left music to dedicate himself to studies in theoretical physics and data science. For 14 years the band built its fame without him, with Diego Tejeida on keyboards, until it became a leading name of European progressive metal.

In 2022, after Tejeida left, Haken called back Jones himself. It's a rare case in rock: the founder who leaves before the first record and returns when the band is already established, to play on Fauna and on the international tours. Whoever attends the October 4 concert has in front of them, in effect, the original lineup: Jennings, Henshall, Hearne and Jones, four of the six kids who recorded the first demo in 2007.

The second curiosity is in the name. Haken doesn't mean anything specific: it was the name of a character invented by Henshall and his friends back in school. A band that writes suites of 20 minutes, built in MIDI with conservatory rigor, carries a name born as a game. Keeping it in mind helps you read the ironic side of their concerts.

Largo Venue, the Concert Venue

Largo Venue is a club for live music carved out of a former industrial shed at Via Biordo Michelotti 2, between Pigneto and Via Prenestina. The tourism portal of Roma Capitale presents it as an urban regeneration project dedicated to creativity, music and culture.

A Shed Given Back to the City

The neighborhood portal describes the space as a place pulled out of decay and reclaimed with greenery, creativity and culture. It's a story shared by many places of Roman music in recent years: where there were workshops and depots, stages and sound systems are now set up.

How It's Laid Out

Largo is a multi-purpose space with a hall built for live music and a large outdoor garden area, with food and a bar. The program alternates international, national and Roman artists, DJ sets and film screenings. On Fridays and Saturdays, after the concerts, the dance nights of Latte Fresco and Back To The Disco start. On the Sunday of the Haken concert the night is supposed to end with live music.

Why It's the Right Hall for Haken

Progressive metal lives on details: the sound of a keyboard under the guitars, a counter-rhythm from the drums, a voice that comes in softly. In a club of this size the details get through, and you see the stage up close. Anyone who has seen the band at an open-air festival will find a sharper concert here.

Program, general information and contacts are collected in our listing for Largo Venue. The phone number given by the tourism portal is 06 59875966, the email address info@largovenue.com.

Something Nobody Tells You About Haken at Largo Venue, October 4, 2026

What few people say is that the Rome concert is a real test for the band. In January 2026 Haken lost in one blow the guitarist Charlie Griffiths, in the band since 2008, and the bassist Conner Green, who arrived in 2014. Two musicians who for more than a decade defined the band's sound, the wall of guitars and the dense bass that holds up the odd time signatures. On the new singles the bass was entrusted to guests like Bryan Beller and Nolly Getgood. Live, in 2026, it is played by Freddie Draper.

Whoever goes to Largo on October 4 therefore hears a lineup in transformation, with historic songs reread by new hands alongside the In a Fever Dream pieces written after the change. It's a rare occasion: bands of this level seldom change two members out of six, and even more rarely do they do it in a club of a few hundred people.

Second thing rarely said: the date falls on a Sunday. Anyone arriving from outside Rome has to take into account that the concert ends around 23:00 and that on Sunday evening public transport thins out. Organizing the return before leaving, with Metro C or the night lines, avoids waiting outside other people's homes. And one last note: Via Biordo Michelotti is a residential street. On the way out, keeping your voice down is a courtesy to the people who live there.

My Advice for Visiting Haken at Largo Venue, October 4, 2026

My advice is to prepare for the concert the way you prepare for a museum visit: by listening first. Haken aren't a band to discover blind in the hall. Their songs often last more than seven minutes, change direction several times and reward those who already know the structure. Two or three listens to The Mountain and Affinity in the days before, plus the three new singles, In a Fever Dream, Bleeding Sky and Delirium, are enough to transform the evening.

Second point: arrive early. The start time given by the promoter is 20:30, and in a standing club position is decided when doors open. For this genre the best position is central, halfway back in the hall, in front of the sound engineer's desk: there the mix is designed to sound good, and you hear Jones's keyboards, which near the speakers disappear under the guitars.

Third point: bring earplugs. Not the foam ones that take everything away, but the musician kind, which lower the volume without erasing the frequencies. Progressive metal live is loud and full of detail, and your ears will thank you the next day.

Finally, eat first in the neighborhood or in the venue's garden: the hall is standing, and two and a half hours of concert weigh less on a full stomach. Pigneto offers plenty of choice a few steps away.

How to Get to Largo Venue

Largo Venue is at Via Biordo Michelotti 2, in the eastern sector of the city, Pigneto area, Municipio V. The area is served by Metro C and by several bus lines.

By Metro

The reference stops are Pigneto and Malatesta, on line C. From the center take Metro A to San Giovanni, change to C and get off at Pigneto or Malatesta. From there the venue is reached on foot in a few minutes.

By Bus

The stop given by the tourism portal is Gattamelata, served by lines 81 and 412. At night lines N12 and N28 pass the same stop: Sunday times should be checked before leaving on the information service of Roman public transport.

By Car

By car you arrive from Via Prenestina or Via Casilina. Parking on the residential streets of Pigneto is hard, even on a Sunday evening. If you really need the car, leave with time to spare.

By Taxi

The Rome radio taxi answers at 060609. For the ride back after 23:00 it's best to book a few minutes before the end of the concert, especially in a group.

Another Well-Known Fact, Yet Rarely Cited

Among progressive fans it's known that Haken have played with Mike Portnoy. Less often remembered is how: in 2017 the whole band, together with the guitarist Eric Gillette, became the group of Mike Portnoy's Shattered Fortress, the project with which the former Dream Theater drummer performed live, in full, the 12-step Suite, the cycle of songs written during his long season with that band. For an English band then barely over 30, acting as the orchestra for one of the fathers of American progressive metal was an enormous public recognition.

The second rarely cited fact concerns the live records. L-1VE, the first live album, was recorded on April 13, 2017 at the Melkweg in Amsterdam during the 10th anniversary tour, and the audio was mixed by Jerry Guidroz, a technician tied to Neal Morse and the Winery Dogs. Liveforms, released in 2025, instead captures the London night of September 21, 2024, with Fauna played in full.

The third is the most curious: the band had to cancel its participation in the Coheed and Cambria British tour in October 2025, a few days before the start. Three months later came the announcement of the lineup change. The 2026 European tour, with Rome among the stops, is the first real test of the new phase.

The Right Photo to Take at Haken at Largo Venue, October 4, 2026

The right photo at a Haken concert isn't the close-up of the singer. It's the whole: Jennings in the center, Henshall to one side with the guitar, Jones behind the keyboards, Hearne raised on the drum riser. It's a band of interlocking parts, and the image that tells it best is the one where you see everyone, at the moment of a unison.

To get it, stand in the center of the hall, a few meters back from the front rows, and wait for the instrumental passages where the lights open up on the whole stage. In the longer songs they always come. No flash: in clubs it flattens the lights and disturbs the people playing.

If Hearne pulls out the tuba, that's the shot not to miss: it's an image no other progressive metal band can offer you, and it sums up the spirit of the band better than 100 solos.

Outside, before going in, the garden of Largo with the evening lights is the background for the group photo. Then put the phone away. Three or four images are enough: the rest of the evening is to be listened to, and Haken's most beautiful passages are the ones a phone doesn't record, the sudden silences before a chorus.

Pigneto and the Area Around Largo Venue

Largo Venue is in the Pigneto sector, east of Termini station, between Via Prenestina and Via Casilina. It's a neighborhood of residential streets, bars, trattorias and cultural spaces, one of the centers of Roman evening life.

Porta Maggiore

Toward the center you meet Porta Maggiore, the monumental gate where the ancient aqueducts converge. Nearby is the Underground Basilica of Porta Maggiore, one of the most unusual monuments in the city, open only on scheduled visits.

San Lorenzo

To the north, beyond the railway, is San Lorenzo with the basilica of San Lorenzo fuori le Mura. For those arriving in the afternoon, a stroll between the two areas before the concert is a good way to get to know this part of Rome.

Toward Via Casilina

Along Via Casilina is the Mausoleum of Saint Helena. Further southeast, reachable by Metro A, is the Park of the Aqueducts, perfect for the Sunday morning before the concert.

Some Important Events That Happened Here in History

The history of Largo Venue is that of an urban reclamation. An industrial shed, in an area where Rome left depots and workshops for decades, was reopened as a place of culture with a hall built for live music, a garden, a bar and a calendar alternating concerts, DJ sets and cinema. It's the path that in many European cities has turned productive areas into music neighborhoods.

Over time the space has built a program with international names, Italian bands and Roman artists, and with weekend dance nights signed by Latte Fresco and Back To The Disco. The Haken date fits into this line, and it is one of the most awaited of the autumn for the audience of more technical rock.

For the band, October 4, 2026 is a stop on a path 19 years long. In 2007 the first demo, in 2010 Aquarius for Sensory, in 2013 the move to Inside Out with The Mountain, in 2017 the 10th anniversary tour and the season with Mike Portnoy, in 2023 Fauna, in 2024 the An Evening with Haken tour and the London night at the O2 Forum Kentish Town. In 2026 the lineup change and In a Fever Dream. Rome comes the day after Milan, within a European tour that the promoter presents as the start of a new chapter. The tourism portal notes that the band returns to Rome after several years.

Who Has Played at Haken at Largo Venue, October 4, 2026

On the stage of Via Biordo Michelotti come Ross Jennings, Richard Henshall, Raymond Hearne and Pete Jones, the current core of Haken. Three of them, Jennings, Henshall and Hearne, have been in the band since its founding in 2007. Jones was there then, left in 2008 and returned in 2022. On bass, at the 2026 concerts, Freddie Draper appears.

Behind them is the long line of musicians who have passed through the band's history. Matthew Marshall, founding guitarist, who left in 2008. Thomas MacLean, bassist on the first three albums, who left in 2013 after the Prog Stage Festival in Israel. Charlie Griffiths, guitarist from 2008 to 2026, and Conner Green, bassist from 2014 to 2026. Diego Tejeida, keyboardist from 2008 to 2021. Pete Rinaldi, live bassist in 2014.

And then the guests and collaborators: Jens Bogren, who mixed The Mountain. Mike Portnoy and Eric Gillette, partners in the Shattered Fortress project. Jerry Guidroz, who handled the audio of L-1VE. Courtney Swain of Bent Knee, voice on the acoustic version of Canary Yellow. Bryan Beller and Adam Nolly Getgood, bassists on the new singles. Ken Golden of Sensory Records, who offered the first contract.

At Largo, on concert nights, international, national and Roman artists play, following the venue's line. On October 4 it's the turn of English progressive.

What to Bring

An ID, the digital ticket on a charged phone, earplugs, a light jacket for the garden. In early October the evening in Rome can be cool.

Where to Eat Before the Concert

Largo Venue has an outdoor area with food and drinks, and for many people dinner is sorted there, in the garden, before the start. Those who prefer to sit at a table find in Pigneto trattorias, pizzerias, osterias and bars in quantity, especially on the pedestrian streets around the Metro C stop. On Sunday evening many places are full of families and groups of friends: it's best to book or to eat early, around 19:00, to reach the club when doors open. After the concert a few bars stay open, but on Sunday the neighborhood quiets down earlier than on the weekend.

A Concert in Early October

Early October is the moment when the Roman club season really restarts after the summer. The evenings are still mild, the Largo garden can still be enjoyed, and the calendar fills up. October 4 is a Sunday: anyone coming from outside can arrive on Saturday, give the morning to monuments and the evening to Pigneto, and leave on Monday.
