«Crisotemi» by Yannis Ritsos, directed and performed by Elena Arvigo: Thursday, January 28 to Sunday, January 31, 2027

From January 28 to 31, 2027, Teatro Torlonia (Via Lazzaro Spallanzani 1A, 00161 Roma) hosts «Crisotemi» (Chrysothemis) by Yannis Ritsos, in Nicola Crocetti's translation, directed and performed by Elena Arvigo. There are four performances.

The event

With «Crisotemi» Elena Arvigo continues the Trilogy of the Rooms, a project devoted to the female figures of Yannis Ritsos's «Fourth Dimension». The last chapter of the journey, the show gives voice to the daughter who remains in the house of the Atreids, suspended between obedience, desire and memory.

Far from the heroism of Antigone and the fury of Electra, Chrysothemis moves through the tragedy without being consumed by it. Her words come from everyday gestures, from objects and memories that turn myth into a place of memory and thought, where the violence of history is measured against the fragility of existence.

In this poetic monologue Ritsos gives a voice back to a figure left at the margins of myth, making her the symbol of a silent and deeply human resistance: a reflection on the wish to go on living inside tragedy, a voice that speaks to the present, questioning the relationship between memory, identity and survival.
