«La mosca Verdolina» by Giorgio Parisi at Teatro Torlonia (Teatro Ragazzi), December 17, 2026 to January 6, 2027

From December 17, 2026 to January 6, 2027, Teatro Torlonia (Via Lazzaro Spallanzani 1A, 00161 Roma) offers, in its Teatro Ragazzi season, «La mosca Verdolina» (The Verdolina Fly), a show inspired by Giorgio Parisi's book and recommended for ages 5 and up.

Updated November 6, 2026.

The event

The grandfather welcomes his grandchildren into his study, or perhaps it is they who catch him playing at making a small light fly. He is a very special grandfather: he likes doing experiments and telling strange stories to send his grandchildren to sleep, but above all he likes solving problems. He knows there is an infallible way to solve even the most complicated ones, and perhaps that is why the children refuse to go to bed and stay to listen to his wacky tales.

The show draws inspiration from Giorgio Parisi's book «La mosca Verdolina» to tell a story of mathematical formulas and talking animals, of very small things and others very far away, of true things and imagination. Because one must see what is there and manage to see what is not yet there, ask for help when needed and know how to do one's part together with others.

The dramaturgical adaptation is by Emanuele Di Giacomo; direction, sets and costumes are by Davide Doro, with Jacob Olesen on stage. The show is in Italian.

Where it takes place: Teatro Torlonia

Immersed in the greenery of Villa Torlonia, the theater makes visitors almost forget they are in the city: they find themselves in a princely nineteenth century, among the rooms where the family gave private parties. The park also offers the Casina delle Civette and the visit to the Jewish catacombs.
