A stand-up comedian who learned the trade in London's comedy clubs, a show that presents itself as a conversation that has stopped being polite, one of the largest theaters in Rome. One night only, on a spring Monday.

In buona fede at Brancaccio: date and tickets

Tiziano La Bella's In buona fede is staged at Teatro Brancaccio for one night only: Monday, April 12, 2027, according to the theater's official page.

A single date

The show page on the Brancaccio website gives April 12, 2027 as the only date. Monday is the day off for many Rome theaters, and a stand-up night at the start of the week is a good chance if your weekend is already booked.

Start time and the price table are on the official Teatro Brancaccio page and on the presale network it links to. The theater arranges seats in the orchestra, divided into Poltronissima and Poltrona, and in two balconies.

Where to buy

Tickets are sold from the show page on the Teatro Brancaccio website, which links to the presale network authorized by the organizers, or at the box office on Via Merulana. The theater's website gives the box office's public hours as Tuesday to Saturday, 16:00 to 19:00, with dedicated openings on Sunday.

The address

Teatro Brancaccio, Via Merulana 244, 00185 Rome, on the stretch of Via Merulana between Santa Maria Maggiore and San Giovanni in Laterano.

In buona fede: what you'll see

In buona fede is a stand-up comedy show that, according to Teatro Brancaccio's presentation, doesn't just tell stories but puts you to the test: tight storytelling, sudden detours and moments of real interaction with the audience.

A conversation without manners

The presentation describes the show as a conversation that has stopped being polite. The pace changes constantly, with sharp jokes, lightning images and an energy that doesn't ask permission. The comedian turns embarrassment into fuel and sincerity into entertainment.

The audience on stage

One of the central elements is interaction with the audience: not a monologue performed in front of a silent hall, but a dialogue in which spectators may be called on. It's a feature of English-language stand-up, which Tiziano La Bella practiced for a long time in British clubs.

Not for everyone

The theater says it plainly: it's not a show designed to please everyone, but for those who prefer to laugh even when they shouldn't, and who suspect that the real taboo today is joking about anything at all. A warning to take seriously before buying a ticket.

The title: why In buona fede

In buona fede, "in good faith," is an expression people use to justify themselves: "I said it in good faith, I didn't mean to offend." As the title of a stand-up show that claims the right to joke about everything, it sounds like a statement of intent and, at the same time, a provocation.

The third chapter

After Boomer, which played on the clash between generations, and Dopo Cristo, whose title already announced slippery ground, In buona fede is the third chapter of the comedian's solo career. It is produced by Altra Scena.

A preview

The first presentations of the tour speak of In buona fede as a preview of the new show: a work that is also built night after night, in contact with the audience. On the comedian's social channels the tour is announced as In buona fede tour 2026/27, with dates being updated.

Good faith as a pact

In our view the title also proposes a pact with the audience. The comedian promises to joke about everything, but in good faith: without wanting to hurt, with the idea that laughter is a way to look at what people usually prefer to avoid. The tour presentations close on exactly this idea, laughter as the most sincere way to face uncomfortable subjects. It's up to the spectator to decide, at the end of the evening and without hurrying, if the pact was really kept.

Who Tiziano La Bella is

Tiziano La Bella is a Roman stand-up comedian with long international experience: he started in Turkey, trained in London's comedy clubs and now lives in Rome, where he writes all his own material.

His debut in Turkey

His first time on a stage came during the two years he spent in Turkey, where he taught Italian. Back in Italy, he took up a career in comedy, then moved to London, which the presentations call the European capital of stand-up comedy.

Seven years in London

For seven years he performed in the most important British comedy clubs and regularly took part in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the big performing arts festival in Edinburgh. It's a tough school, made of open-mic nights and demanding audiences, which explains how he holds a stage.

Television

In Italy television came with Stand-Up Comedy on Comedy Central Italia, followed by a 30-minute special on Amazon Prime Video, within Italian Stand Up, and other TV appearances.

Boomer and TEDx

In 2024 he debuted with his first solo show, Boomer, with many sold-out nights in Italy. In 2025 he took the stage at TEDx Lecco with a talk on comedy and its limits, which in his view simply don't exist. After Boomer came Dopo Cristo, and now In buona fede.

Stand-up comedy, from London to Rome

Stand-up comedy is the genre in which a comedian, alone and with no set, speaks directly to the audience. It was born and grew up in English-speaking countries, and in Italy it has spread more and more widely in recent years.

The club and the theater

In London's comedy clubs stand-up is done in small rooms, with the audience a few meters away. Bringing it to a theater like Brancaccio means changing scale: the comedian has to reach the last row of the second balcony without losing the direct contact with the front rows.

Interaction

Crowd work, an essential skill on the British scene, is one of the stated strengths of In buona fede. In a large hall it works differently: people in the front rows of the orchestra are more likely to be involved.

Language

English-language stand-up is known for having no protected zones. Tiziano La Bella claims this approach: if you go to see him you should know that no subject is off limits. It's a choice consistent with his TEDx Lecco talk, devoted precisely to the limits of comedy, and with the title of his second show.

A curious fact about Tiziano La Bella in In buona fede at Teatro Brancaccio, April 12, 2027

The curious fact concerns the start of his career. Tiziano La Bella first went on stage not in Rome, nor in London, but in Turkey, where he was teaching Italian. A Roman comedian who discovers stand-up in a foreign country and then perfects it for seven years in England: an unusual path for an Italian comedian.

It's a story that, in our view, explains a lot about his style. Those who perform for years in London's clubs and at the Edinburgh Fringe learn to handle demanding audiences, night after night. Back in Rome, La Bella brings into Italian a craft honed elsewhere.

The second curious fact concerns TEDx. In 2025, in Lecco, the comedian gave a talk on the limits of comedy, arguing that they simply don't exist. It's rare for a comedian to theorize his own work in front of a conference audience: In buona fede is, in a sense, that thesis put into practice.

Finally, the calendar. April 12, 2027 falls right in the run of Mrs Doubtfire the Musical, on at Brancaccio from March 31 to April 18: the Monday-night stand-up slots in among the performances of a big musical.

Teatro Brancaccio: the hall and its layout

Teatro Brancaccio, at Via Merulana 244, has had its current layout since 1937: two foyers, a large orchestra and two raised levels, the first and second balcony, for about 2,000 seats at the time.

Orchestra and balconies

The orchestra is divided into the Poltronissima and Poltrona sections, each in bands A and B. Above are the first balcony, divided into A and B, and the second balcony. It's a large hall, among the biggest in the city.

Where to sit for stand-up

For a show built on interaction with the audience, in our view the orchestra is the way to go: Poltronissima if you want to be close to the comedian and accept the risk of being involved, Poltrona as a compromise. From the balconies you hear everything, but the play of glances with the front rows is lost. The balconies, moreover, are not served by elevators.

The Brancaccio complex

Brancaccio is the main hall of a larger complex: Brancaccino, a theater of about 100 seats, a training area and a terrace over Via Merulana. The theater is home to a production center and hosts academies of acting, directing, musical theater and dance.

Something nobody tells you about Tiziano La Bella in In buona fede at Teatro Brancaccio, April 12, 2027

What few people consider is the contrast in scale. Tiziano La Bella trained in London's comedy clubs, small rooms where the comedian sees the spectators' faces. Brancaccio is one of the largest theaters in Rome, built in the 1930s for about 2,000 people.

For a show that presents itself as a conversation, the size of the hall changes everything. If you sit in the front rows of the orchestra you get an experience close to a club. If you sit in the second balcony you watch a show, more than a conversation. It's not a flaw, but it's good to know when choosing your seat.

The second thing concerns the tone. In its presentation Teatro Brancaccio warns that the show is not designed to please everyone. It's rare for a theater to put it so plainly: if you're bringing people who are sensitive to certain subjects, find out beforehand, perhaps by watching some of the comedian's material available online.

Third: Monday night. Some restaurants choose Monday as their closing day: organize dinner with a booking, before or after the show.

How to get to Teatro Brancaccio

Teatro Brancaccio is at Via Merulana 244, less than a kilometer from Termini station and a short walk from the Vittorio Emanuele stop of Metro A.

By metro

The theater gives two options. Metro A, Vittorio Emanuele stop, is the closest: you come out on Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II and reach Via Merulana in a few minutes on foot. Metro B and B1, Cavour stop, are the alternative if you are coming from the Monti or Colosseum side.

By bus

The theater lists three stops. On Via Merulana, at the Merulana/Brancaccio and Merulana/Mecenate stops, lines 16, 75, 714, 717 and C3 pass. At the Labicana/Merulana stop lines 3, 53, 75, 85, 87, 186, 571, 810, C3 and the N10 night bus pass, useful for the trip home.

By taxi

The theater lists the nearest taxi stands: Largo Brancaccio, Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II at number 113, Via Principe Amedeo at 138, Via Giolitti at 6 and Via Venosta.

By car

The theater lists no partner parking, and in the evening Esquilino is a neighborhood where parking is hard. If you are coming from outside Rome, you're better off leaving the car near a metro station and continuing to Vittorio Emanuele or Cavour.

My tip for Tiziano La Bella in In buona fede at Teatro Brancaccio, April 12, 2027

My advice is to choose your seat based on how much you want to take part. If you love English-style stand-up and don't mind being called on, choose Poltronissima, in the front rows: that's where the conversation happens. If you want to laugh without becoming part of the show, choose Poltrona or the first balcony.

Second tip: watch some of Tiziano La Bella's material first, for example the Italian Stand Up special or his TEDx Lecco talk. Not to get the jokes in advance, but to see if his register, with no protected zones, is right for the people coming with you.

Third: check the start time on the theater's official page when you buy and arrive with a quarter of an hour to spare. Brancaccio's rules don't allow entry once the show has started, and in a show based on interaction, coming in late means drawing the comedian's attention.

Finally, Monday. Some places may be closed, so book dinner: the trattorias of the Monti district, a quarter of an hour's walk away, are the best choice for after the show.

Another well-known fact, yet one rarely mentioned

It's well known that stand-up comedy has grown a lot in Italy in recent years. Less often mentioned is how much this growth owes to Italian comedians who trained abroad, especially in English-speaking countries, and then came back bringing a craft different from traditional cabaret.

Tiziano La Bella is a clear example: seven years in British clubs, regular participation in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, then the return to Italy with Comedy Central and Amazon Prime Video. His path tells the story of a generation of comedians who learned stand-up in the countries where it was born, before bringing it into Italian.

The second rarely mentioned fact concerns writing. In stand-up the comedian is almost always also the author of their own material, and La Bella makes a point of it: he writes all his material himself. It's a substantial difference from other forms of comic performance, where performer and author are different people, and it explains why every stand-up show is, first of all, a portrait of the person who writes it.

The right photo to take at Tiziano La Bella in In buona fede at Teatro Brancaccio, April 12, 2027

The right photo is taken outside, before going in: the Teatro Brancaccio facade on Via Merulana, with the lit signs and the name of the show. In mid-April, toward evening, the sunset light on the street is soft and looks good.

During the show, Brancaccio's rules forbid photos and filming. For stand-up it's a sacred rule: a joke filmed on a phone and posted out of context loses its meaning, and in a show that claims the freedom to joke about everything, context is everything.

If you like images of Rome, the second photo is taken on the way out: walking north along Via Merulana you arrive in front of the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, lit at night. To the south, the facade of St. John Lateran. Two major basilicas at the two ends of the same street.

Around Brancaccio: Esquilino, Monti and Via Merulana

Teatro Brancaccio is on Via Merulana, between the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, the Colosseum and the Basilica of San Giovanni in Laterano.

The two basilicas

Via Merulana runs between two of Rome's major basilicas: on one side Santa Maria Maggiore, on the other St. John Lateran. From one end of the street to the other is a walk of about 20 minutes, and a walk before the show can start at one basilica and end at the theater entrance.

Palazzo Merulana and the Auditorium of Maecenas

On the same street are Palazzo Merulana, with its art collection, and a little further on the Auditorium of Maecenas. The theater's name recalls Palazzo Brancaccio, against whose garden the hall was built.

Piazza Vittorio and Monti

To the north is Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II with the Alchemical Door. To the west you go down into the Monti district, with trattorias, osterias and wine bars.

Some important events that happened here in history

The history of Teatro Brancaccio begins in January 1916, when the hall opened under the name Teatro Morgana, built against the embankment of the gardens of the Field Brancaccio noble palace, whose name comes from Isabella Field, married to Prince Brancaccio.

After several renovations, in 1937 the hall opened in its current layout, with two foyers, a large orchestra and two balconies for about 2,000 seats at the time, and took the name Teatro Brancaccio.

From 1985 to 2000 the hall was home to the Fondazione dell'Opera di Roma. Then the City entrusted the direction to Gigi Proietti, until 2007, followed by Maurizio Costanzo until 2010 and Stage Entertainment Italia until 2012. Since September 2012 the artistic director has been Alessandro Longobardi, and the theater has become a cultural hub with Brancaccino, the academies and, since 2014, Spazio Impero. On April 12, 2027 the hall of great musicals and Roman comedy hosts a stand-up comedian trained in London.

Who has passed through Tiziano La Bella in In buona fede at Teatro Brancaccio, April 12, 2027

Some of the biggest names of Italian and international entertainment have crossed the Brancaccio stage. The theater itself recalls a few: Totò, Anna Magnani, Aldo Fabrizi and Gigi Proietti among the actors, Fabrizio De André, Louis Armstrong and Jimi Hendrix among the musicians.

Proietti, in particular, was not just an actor passing through: after 2000 he ran the theater on behalf of the City of Rome, until 2007. After him, until 2010, management went to Maurizio Costanzo, and until 2012 to Stage Entertainment Italia.

In the 2026-2027 season comedy has an important place in the Brancaccio program, alongside big musicals like Mrs Doubtfire. Tiziano La Bella enters this story with a different language: not cabaret, not comedy theater, but British-style stand-up. In our view it's a sign of the times that a theater with this history opens its doors to a genre born in clubs, and that a Roman comedian who grew up professionally in London comes home on a stage that has seen Totò and Proietti.

Accessibility at Teatro Brancaccio

Teatro Brancaccio states that there are no architectural barriers to the orchestra: there is a ramp, an area for wheelchairs and an accessible restroom on the ground floor, reached from the orchestra foyer.

Reserved seats

The theater provides, while available, orchestra spaces for wheelchair users and for people with walking difficulties. The balconies are not wheelchair accessible. For a show by a visiting production, check the conditions with the box office.

Visual and hearing impairments

For spectators with visual and hearing impairments the theater reserves orchestra seats on request, while available.

Age

The organizers give no age limit. Given the language and the stated themes, in our view the show is suited to an adult audience.

House rules at Teatro Brancaccio

The Teatro Brancaccio rules apply to every show: arrive early, no entry once the show has started, no photos or filming during the show, no food in the hall.

Seats and tickets

The rules ask you to sit only in your assigned seat: for safety reasons you may not swap seats, even if there are empty ones. Reduced-price tickets are valid only with a document proving entitlement to the reduction.

Cloakroom and items

The theater has a cloakroom and a bar. Umbrellas are not allowed in the hall and must be left at the cloakroom. Plastic bottles over half a liter, glass containers, motorcycle helmets, professional cameras, tripods and selfie sticks are forbidden.

Where to eat before or after the show

The Brancaccio area offers three different options: the bars and places on Via Merulana, the multiethnic Esquilino around Piazza Vittorio and the trattorias of the Monti district.

Before the show

Via Merulana and the streets around the theater have bars and neighborhood places, good for an aperitivo or a quick meal. The streets around Piazza Vittorio offer cuisines from half the world at moderate prices.

After the show

The Monti district, a quarter of an hour's walk away, has trattorias, osterias and wine bars, and it's the best choice for dinner after the show. On Monday evening many kitchens close earlier or stay closed: book ahead.

How to plan the evening of April 12

For In buona fede at Brancaccio the most convenient sequence is a walk along Via Merulana in the late afternoon, a booked dinner in the neighborhood and entering the hall with a quarter of an hour to spare.

The afternoon

In mid-April the days are long: if you arrive early you can visit Santa Maria Maggiore or San Giovanni in Laterano, checking opening hours, or Palazzo Merulana, a few steps from the theater. It's a way to turn a stand-up night into a small Roman day.

Dinner

On a Monday, book ahead. If you prefer to eat before, choose a place near the theater, between Via Merulana and Piazza Vittorio. If you prefer to eat after, you can go down to Monti, a quarter of an hour's walk away.

Getting back

Metro A at Vittorio Emanuele and Metro B at Cavour are a few minutes' walk away. For late returns, the theater lists the N10 night bus at the Labicana/Merulana stop and several taxi stands nearby.

April in Rome: a week of shows

Mid-April is one of the most pleasant times of the year in Rome: mild days, still-cool evenings, the city full of visitors. It's also a period packed with shows, and Brancaccio lives it with two very different offerings in the same week.

Musical and stand-up

While the big musical Mrs Doubtfire is on until April 18, on Monday the 12th the hall hosts Tiziano La Bella's stand-up. If you're in Rome for a few days you can see both, with two evenings of completely different tone in the same theater.

If you're coming from outside

If you come to Rome for the occasion, book accommodation in good time: April is high tourist season. If you want to build a tailor-made stay around the evening, you can contact Tour Leader Pro, which organizes private tours and experiences.
