Fischio, bar kiosk in Trionfale
Fischio is an open-air bar kiosk in Piazzale degli Eroi, 00136 Rome, in the Trionfale neighborhood, just outside the Cipro station of metro A. By day it serves breakfast and lunch, in the evening cocktails and wines by the glass, almost all natural, and, every now and then, vinyl DJ sets. There are no tickets or membership cards. You order at the kiosk and drink at the little tables, on the low walls or standing.

It was opened in 2016 by three friends since high school, Simone, Marco and Luigi, who grew up in Montesacro. Data checked on October 16, 2026 on Gambero Rosso, Zero and Dissapore.

What Fischio is and what you hear
Gambero Rosso describes it as an eclectic spot carved out of a few square meters: about 15 narrow tables that are always full, a few spots on the low walls and, for the rest, you stand. According to the publication, that's exactly the charm of the place. At the counter there are wines by the glass with an almost exclusive preference for natural ones, as Dissapore notes, cocktails also in cans and a good selection of gin.
Zero recommends, since it's a kiosk that is at its best in the warm months, the drinks that make you think of summer: muddled drinks, tiki and tropical recipes. For the gin and tonic the list is wide, with English labels such as Gilpin's, Sipsmith and Tanqueray No. 10, the Dutch Bobby's with Indonesian spices, the Macaronesian from the Canary Islands and the French G'Vine and Citadelle, from the Cognac area.
The music comes with guest sets by vinyl collectors. Zero describes it as eclectic but leaning toward electronic, and says the console is set up in front of the newsstand vendor with whom the kiosk shares the square, along with a florist and a watermelon seller. Our contrarian view: Fischio is often described as a summer evening bar, but in our judgment it's worth trying by day too, when it opens at 08:00 and works as the square's bar, or on Saturday morning, with the Morning Sessions announced by Zero.
A curiosity about Fischio
The name is a play on words. As Simone told Gambero Rosso, when short names for venues weren't yet fashionable in Rome, Luigi proposed "Fischio" because it sounds like "chiosco". From there a small family of names was born: Becco, the takeaway kiosk open a few meters away with tramezzini, shokupan and pan brioche, and Soffio, born in Fregene in 2023. The starting idea, again according to Gambero Rosso, was the little kiosk at Ponte Tazio in Montesacro, the hangout of the three founders' adolescence.
Something nobody tells you about Fischio
Fischio opens early in the morning. Zero and Dissapore list opening at 08:00, with breakfast and lunch, and the kiosk serves until late at night. Anyone who knows it only for the evening DJ sets often doesn't realize that the same place works as a neighborhood bar all day long. On Sunday, though, Zero lists opening at 16:00. The phone numbers published by the two publications are also different, and for any information it's best to write on the official channels.
Upcoming events at Fischio
On our site there are listings for the Morning Session with Mino Luchena on October 17 and the daytime session for 12th Isle's 10 years on October 24, 2026. Zero announces the Fischio Morning Sessions for Saturday, October 17, Saturday, October 24 and Saturday, October 31, 2026 at 11:00. How do you get to Fischio?
The kiosk is just outside the Cipro station of metro A, opened in 1999 with the extension of the line from Ottaviano to Valle Aurelia. It's the easiest way to get there, also because Fischio doesn't publish directions for parking. For buses and connections, use the ATAC route planner.
My advice for Fischio
My advice is to arrive early if you want a table. They are few, and Gambero Rosso describes them as always taken. If you can't find a spot, take your glass and move to the low walls of the square, as Gambero Rosso's description suggests. For the drink, in summer go for a muddled drink or a tiki as Zero suggests. On cooler evenings a glass of natural wine is the choice most in keeping with the spirit of the kiosk.
The neighborhood around: Trionfale
At the center of Piazzale degli Eroi is the fountain built in 1949, in view of the Holy Year of 1950, as a showcase of the Peschiera aqueduct, today the main aqueduct of Rome. It was inaugurated by President Luigi Einaudi and is inspired by the Fountain of the Naiads. In 1974 Antonello Venditti dedicated the song "Piazzale degli Eroi" to the square, on the album "Quando verrà Natale". In the same quadrant of the city are the Trionfale Market and the Monte Mario Reserve. For the surroundings there is our page on what to see in Prati and Borgo.
