Vincenzo Comunale at Ambra Jovinelli: Prima pagina, edizione straordinaria, April 29, 2027
Vincenzo Comunale at Ambra Jovinelli: the comedian brings Prima pagina: edizione straordinaria (Front Page: Special Edition) to Rome on Thursday, April 29, 2027 at 21:00, for one night only. The show is written and performed by Comunale and produced by Best Live and Full Heads Comedy. The theater is at Via Guglielmo Pepe 43, 00185 Rome, in Esquilino: the nearest stop is Vittorio Emanuele on Metro A, a few minutes' walk away, or you can get off at Termini and cross the neighborhood. Tickets are sold on the theater's official website, which links to the authorized presale network, or at the Ambra Jovinelli box office, and prices are shown on the presale network when you buy.
Language: performed in Italian. No English version or English surtitles are announced.

Prima pagina returns to the stage in a new version, with surprise guests and monologues that comment on newspaper front pages and on the front pages of daily life, made of blank pages still to be written. As always in Comunale's shows, the audience takes part through moments of improvisation. It's a return to Rome for a Neapolitan comedian who studied here and took his first steps in stand-up here.

What you'll see: the front pages of life
Prima pagina: edizione straordinaria is a new version of Vincenzo Comunale's show, built on comic monologues, surprise guests and improvisation.
Newspaper front pages
The starting point is front pages: those of the newspapers, commented on in the monologues, and those of everyday life. The theater describes them as blank pages still to be written, the kind that scare you and move you at the same time.
The audience on stage
As in all of Comunale's shows, the audience plays an active part thanks to moments of improvisation. It's a trait that goes way back: his university thesis, in Rome, was about comedy and breaking the fourth wall, the invisible barrier between performer and audience.
A generation
In his monologues Comunale tells the story of his generation of people in their thirties, dealing with a society that makes them feel in competition with the world and without reference points, yet determined to find a way out, starting, the presentation says, by laughing about it.
The special edition
In newspaper jargon a special edition is one that comes out off schedule, for news that can't wait. For the show it means a refreshed version of Prima pagina, which Comunale took on stage in 2026, with guests the presentation doesn't announce.
Vincenzo Comunale: biography
Vincenzo Comunale was born in Naples on January 23, 1996, and is a comedian and writer regarded as one of the most interesting voices in Italian stand-up comedy. In 2025 Forbes put him on its list of 100 Italians under 30 who are changing the world.
Beginnings in Naples
He has studied acting since the age of 13. In 2012 he took part in the cabaret workshop Officina dei comici, and in 2013 he joined the cast of the show KomiKamente, performing for four years at Teatro Diana in Naples as a monologuist. He won the Premio Massimo Troisi in 2014 and the Premio Charlot in 2016, and reached the final of the last edition of the BravoGrazie festival.
The Rome years
In 2015 he moved to Rome and started going to stand-up comedy nights, especially at the Cocktail Comedy Club at Oppio Caffè. He attended the Zelig workshops in Rome, Salerno and Milan, which led to his TV debut in 2016, with Zelig Event on Canale 5. In 2017 he graduated with top honors from Roma Tre University, in the DAMS program, with a thesis on comedy and breaking the fourth wall in film.
Television
Since 2016 he has been part of the Zelig cast, up to the edition hosted by Claudio Bisio and Vanessa Incontrada on Canale 5 and the new ZeligOn with Paolo Ruffini and Lodovica Comello on Italia 1. In 2019 he joined the regular cast of Battute? on Rai 2, he took part in Mad in Italy and Audiscion, in prime time on Rai 2, and in Le Iene, which he co-hosts in 2026. In 2021 his special for the Italian Stand up series came out on Prime Video, later aired on Rai 5.
The big stages
In August 2023, at 27, chosen by artistic director Lello Arena, he took the Vincenzo Comunale Show to Piazza del Plebiscito in Naples, in front of about 6,000 people. In February 2025 he sold out the Palapartenope twice with A ruota libera show, where a giant wheel decides the set list. He has also taken his shows to Italians living in London, Paris, Lisbon and Amsterdam.
Writer and host
He created and hosts Inoltrato Molte Volte, a late show on social media produced by Teatro San Carlo, with interviews, segments, sketches and improvisation. In November 2024 he starred in A pane e Troisi, written and directed by Anna Pavignano, co-writer of Massimo Troisi's films.
Forbes and the under 30 generation
The Forbes Italia list of 100 young people under 30 who are changing the world, published in April 2025, included him in the entertainment section. For a comedian born in 1996, the recognition came after 10 years on stage, while his audience grows above all among people his own age.
The 2021 special
His special for the Italian Stand up series, produced by Zelig Media Company, is a half-hour monologue released on Prime Video in June 2021, then aired by Rai 5 and available on RaiPlay: if you've never seen him live, it's the easiest way to get to know him before the evening.
Vincenzo Comunale's shows
Vincenzo Comunale writes, directs and performs his one-man shows: from his 2016 debut piece to Prima pagina in 2026, he has built a series of shows that follows his own growing up, age included.
The early years
His 2016 show, whose title means "almost an adult", presented him as one of Italy's youngest comedians. It was followed in 2017 by a show about being confused but having clear ideas and in 2019 by one with a "provisional title": titles that play with the uncertainty of someone in his twenties looking for his place.
The Definitivo series
In 2021 came Definitivo3, then, between 2022 and 2023, Definitivo3.ultimaversione.doc: a title anyone who has saved a file a hundred times will recognize. In 2023 he released the special Un'altra cosa, and the same year the Vincenzo Comunale Show in Piazza del Plebiscito.
From theaters to arenas
In 2024 came Ant3prima, and in 2025 A ruota libera show, with the wheel deciding the set list and the guests' entrances, which sold out the Palapartenope in Naples twice. In 2026 Prima pagina premiered, and it arrives at the Ambra in its special edition.
The style: irreverent yet gentle stand-up
As a comic performer, Vincenzo Comunale chose the monologue from the start, inspired by the greats of American stand-up and, above all, by Italian auteur comedy.
His models
Among his favorite comedians are Jim Carrey, Robin Williams and Woody Allen. But his stated point of reference is Massimo Troisi, along with Roberto Benigni and Gigi Proietti: a line that joins word and body, melancholy and punchline.
Naples and stand-up
Back in Naples after his Rome years, he founded the stand-up collective Allert' Comedy and worked with Stand up Comedy Napoli and The Comedy Club. Critics have described him as a champion of irreverent but gentle stand-up, a possible innovator of the Neapolitan comedy scene.
Improvisation
Improvisation plays a central role in many of his shows: the wheel in A ruota libera show, the surprise guests, the questions to the audience. It's his thesis on breaking the fourth wall put into practice: the comedian doesn't perform in front of the audience but with it.
A curious fact about Vincenzo Comunale at Ambra Jovinelli, April 29, 2027
The best curious fact concerns Massimo Troisi. Comunale has often said his point of reference and personal idol is Troisi, along with Roberto Benigni and Gigi Proietti. The first major award of his career, in 2014, was the Premio Massimo Troisi, and 10 years later, in November 2024, he starred in A pane e Troisi, the show written and directed by Anna Pavignano, co-writer of Troisi's films, in her stage debut. The circle closed on stage.
The second curious fact is Roman. The Neapolitan comedian did an important part of his training in Rome: from 2015 the stand-up nights at the Cocktail Comedy Club, the Zelig workshops, his degree from Roma Tre in 2017 with a thesis on breaking the fourth wall. On April 29 he returns to a city he knows as an audience member, a student and a comedian.
The third concerns his audience: Comunale is very active on social media, where videos of his live sets and content made especially for it get millions of views. Many people in the Ambra audience will have met him on their phones before seeing him on TV.
Teatro Ambra Jovinelli
Teatro Ambra Jovinelli was opened on March 3, 1909 by the impresario Giuseppe Jovinelli, from Caserta, as a variety theater. It stands on Via Guglielmo Pepe, in Esquilino, and it's the only Roman theater built in Art Nouveau style.
The facade
The design was entrusted in 1907 to Ulderico Bencivenga, after contributions by Pietro Chiodelli and Giacomo Radiconcini: a two-story facade with wide openings, a crown of curved lines, stucco pilasters decorated with flowers and, at the center of the entablature, a shell with a human face.
From variety to comedy
Before World War I the Jovinelli was one of Rome's most important variety houses. In the 1950s it became a cinema with variety acts under the name Ambra Jovinelli, and on April 29, 1982 a fire destroyed the building. On January 25, 2001 it reopened as a comedy theater, with Serena Dandini as artistic director, and since December 26, 2010 it has been run by Fabrizia Pompilio.
The hall today
The restoration rebuilt its early 20th century look and tripled the interior volume without touching the exterior: the hall was raised five meters, and beneath it the Piccolo Jovinelli, a bar and other spaces were created. The cast-iron columns that once held the boxes now support the two galleries.
Ambra Jovinelli, a home for comedy
Since January 25, 2001, when it reopened with Serena Dandini as artistic director, Ambra Jovinelli has been Rome's comedy theater by vocation, a direct heir to the variety shows of the early 1900s.
From variety to stand-up
The thread runs more than a century: Viviani, Petrolini and Totò in Giuseppe Jovinelli's variety house, then the comedians of the reopening, from Lillo e Greg to the Guzzantis, up to the new generation of stand-up. Today a comedian alone at the microphone on the Ambra stage does what the character comics did a hundred years ago: talk about current events to a popular audience.
The 2026 and 2027 season
This season the theater has made room for many voices of contemporary comedy, from the satire of Luca Bizzarri to the irony of Arianna Porcelli Safonov and the comedy of Dino Abbrescia and Massimo De Lorenzo. Comunale brings the generation in its thirties to a program that spans different ages and styles.
Something nobody tells you about Vincenzo Comunale at Ambra Jovinelli, April 29, 2027
What the presentation doesn't say openly is that, in a show with moments of improvisation, the front rows aren't just the best seats: they're also the most exposed. Comunale involves the audience, and if you sit up front, expect to become part of the show for a few minutes. If you'd rather laugh without being called on, choose the gallery.
The second thing concerns the date. On April 29, 1982 a fire destroyed the Ambra Jovinelli, and on April 29, 2027, exactly 45 years later, the rebuilt hall hosts a comedian who makes a generation born long after that night laugh. No presentation mentions it, but for anyone who knows the theater's history the coincidence carries some weight.
The third is practical: since the restoration the hall sits five meters above street level. If you have mobility issues, contact the theater before buying, and the website has a page for spectators with disabilities.
My tip for Vincenzo Comunale at Ambra Jovinelli, April 29, 2027
My first tip is to watch some of Comunale's videos on his channels in the days before, or the Italian Stand up special. Arriving familiar with his style, irreverent and gentle at once, helps you catch the improvisation game and recognize the recurring themes. Keep in mind the show is in Italian.
The second is to actually leaf through the day's newspapers. A show that comments on front pages lives on current events, and if you've read the news of April 29 you'll catch jokes others miss.
The third concerns your seat: the orchestra if you want to take part, the gallery if you'd rather watch. The fourth: arrive 15 minutes early, because the Ambra foyer fills up fast and you reach the hall by going upstairs.
How to get to Ambra Jovinelli
Teatro Ambra Jovinelli is at Via Guglielmo Pepe 43, a short distance from Piazza Vittorio and Termini station: Metro A, Vittorio Emanuele stop, is the simplest option.
By metro
From the Vittorio Emanuele stop you reach Via Guglielmo Pepe on foot in a few minutes. Alternatively, get off at Termini, where lines A and B meet, and walk through Esquilino, a quarter of an hour at an easy pace.
By train
If you arrive by regional train you can get off at Roma Laziali station, next to Termini, the closest to the theater.
By car
Street parking in Esquilino is hard in the evening: leave the car in a parking garage around Termini and walk. On the eve of the long weekend, with the city full, it's an even smarter choice.
Another well-known fact, yet one rarely mentioned
It's well known that Vincenzo Comunale is a face of Zelig: TV audiences know him from there, and from his monologue about nationalizing the Camorra, one of his most successful pieces. Less often mentioned is that his path began much earlier, at 13, with acting lessons, and went through four years of monologues at Teatro Diana in Naples with KomiKamente, when he was still one of Italy's youngest comedians.
A second rarely mentioned fact concerns his university training. Comunale isn't only a stage comedian: he studied film, television and new media at the DAMS program of Roma Tre, wrote and directed short films, and one of his works, Piano B, won the web award at the 2018 Vertical Movie Festival. His taste for framing and editing rhythm shows in his videos too.
The third is about radio: in 2021 he co-hosted Very Sabato on Radio Marte, and in 2025 he appeared on Ottovolante on Rai Radio 2.
The right photo to take at Vincenzo Comunale at Ambra Jovinelli, April 29, 2027
The right photo is taken outside, from the opposite sidewalk: the Art Nouveau facade of Ambra Jovinelli, with its flower-decorated pilasters and the shell with a human face at the center of the entablature. Lit up at night, it's one of the most beautiful theater facades in Rome.
During the show your phone stays off: in a show with improvisation, a joke born from the audience only works in that moment, and a screen's light breaks the pact with the hall. At the final applause, a photo of Comunale on stage is the right keepsake.
The third is taken in Piazza Vittorio, in front of the Porta Alchemica, with its enigmatic inscriptions: a stone front page nobody has yet managed to read in full.
Esquilino around Ambra Jovinelli
Esquilino is the district between Termini, Santa Maria Maggiore and Porta Maggiore, with the late 19th century buildings put up around Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II after Italian unification.
Piazza Vittorio
Piazza Vittorio is a large square ringed by porticoes, and in the gardens at its center stands the Porta Alchemica.
The market
A few steps away is the Nuovo Mercato Esquilino, with spices, vegetables and products from half the world: a daytime market, best visited in the morning if you're spending the day in the area.
Toward Monti
Heading up toward Santa Maria Maggiore and beyond you reach Monti, the district of small shops and squares between the basilica and the Forums: our page on the Monti district helps you pick a route before or after the show.
Some important events that happened here in history
The history of Ambra Jovinelli reads in dates. On March 3, 1909 the theater opened with Raffaele Viviani and his sister Luisella, brought in by Giuseppe Jovinelli. In 1910 Ettore Petrolini signed the contract with Jovinelli that launched him, and the documents of that relationship are kept in the Petrolini collection of the Biblioteca e Museo teatrale del Burcardo. Between 1919 and 1921 Totò made his debut and became the audience's favorite, presenting himself as an impersonator of Gustavo De Marco.
In the 1950s the theater became a cinema with variety acts under its current name, and in the 1970s an adult movie theater. On April 29, 1982 the fire destroyed the hall. In July 1996 some young artists occupied the abandoned theater, in 1997 the facade was placed under protection by the Ministry, and on January 25, 2001 the Ambra reopened as a comedy theater with Serena Dandini. On December 26, 2010 Fabrizia Pompilio's management began.
On April 29, 2027, 45 years after the fire, the rebuilt hall hosts a Neapolitan comedian, just as Viviani and Totò, who started here, were Neapolitan.
Who has passed through Vincenzo Comunale at Ambra Jovinelli, April 29, 2027
The Ambra Jovinelli stage has seen more than a century of Italian entertainment. The Jovinelli family era included Raffaele Viviani, Ettore Petrolini, Gustavo De Marco, Totò, and then Gennaro Pasquariello, Romolo Balzani, Claudio Villa, Nino Taranto, Lino Banfi, Franco Franchi and Ciccio Ingrassia, Rita Pavone and Alberto Sordi.
After the 2001 reopening came Ascanio Celestini, Marco Paolini, Lillo e Greg, Neri Marcorè, Valerio Mastandrea, Sabina and Corrado Guzzanti, Lella Costa, Moni Ovadia, Silvio Orlando and Paolo Rossi, and under Fabrizia Pompilio, Stefano Accorsi, Massimo Ranieri, Pierfrancesco Favino, Paola Cortellesi and Elio Germano. In the 2026 and 2027 season stand-up has a permanent place: among others, Luca Bizzarri and Arianna Porcelli Safonov have performed here.
Comunale's career includes Claudio Bisio and Vanessa Incontrada, Paolo Ruffini and Lodovica Comello, Riccardo Rossi, Lello Arena, who chose him for Piazza del Plebiscito, and Anna Pavignano, who directed him in A pane e Troisi. And, as his stated model, Massimo Troisi.
Where to eat before or after the show
Esquilino is the right neighborhood for Chinese, Indian, Bangladeshi, Ethiopian or Middle Eastern food at moderate prices, and for a Roman trattoria head up toward Santa Maria Maggiore or over to Monti.
Before 21:00
There are two ways to go: a long aperitivo around 19:00 and dinner after, or an early dinner around 19:30 near the theater.
After the show
Monti, a quarter of an hour on foot, has trattorias, osterias and wine bars open late. On the eve of the May Day weekend places fill up: book ahead.
Accessibility, age and practical information
Since the restoration the Ambra Jovinelli hall sits five meters above street level: if you have accessibility needs, contact the theater before buying, and the official website has a page for spectators with disabilities.
Who it's for
The theater doesn't state an age limit. The monologues are mostly about the generation in its thirties and current events, and younger audiences know Comunale from social media: it's an evening suited to older teens and adults.
Arriving on time
Be at the theater 15 minutes early: the foyer fills up quickly, and you reach the hall by going upstairs.
How to plan the evening of April 29
With a single show, on a Thursday at 21:00 on the eve of the long weekend, the evening revolves around three moments: a walk in the neighborhood, the show, and dinner or the trip home.
The afternoon
If you arrive early you can start from Santa Maria Maggiore, head down to Piazza Vittorio and stop in front of the Porta Alchemica, or go through Monti, with its small shops. They're short routes, with plenty of reasons to stop.
Before going in
For a 21:00 show, be on Via Guglielmo Pepe around 20:40, pick up your tickets and take your seat calmly: you reach the hall by going upstairs, and the foyer fills up fast.
After the show
For the trip home, Metro A from Vittorio Emanuele and the lines leaving from Termini cover much of the city. Check the last run in advance, because on the eve of the long weekend the city is full and taxis are hard to find.
Late April in Rome
The show falls on the eve of the May Day weekend: long days, mild evenings, the city full of visitors. The same evening Rome offers much more, from concerts at the Auditorium to the pop of Elodie at Palazzo dello Sport. If you're staying a few days you can make Esquilino your theater district: a few minutes' walk away there's also Teatro Brancaccio, on Via Merulana.
In late April the evenings are mild but can be rainy: it's only a few minutes on foot between the metro and the theater, and a folding umbrella is enough. If you're coming from outside Rome, Esquilino has the advantage of being steps from Termini: you get off the train, have dinner in the neighborhood and reach the theater without taking any other transit.
