On Saturday, November 7, 2026, Acquario Romano (Piazza Manfredo Fanti 47, Rome) hosts the 18th edition of the Gran Ballo Viennese di Roma. Time and prices are not published in the announcement; for information, contact the organizing association.
The Gran Ballo renews in the capital the tradition of the great European balls, with waltzes, evening gowns and the rigor of ceremony. The edition has an international outlook: delegations from other Viennese Balls in Romania, the Netherlands and France are expected.
The stars are 30 debutantes between 15 and 24 years old, from Lazio, Lombardy, Campania, Apulia, Sardinia, Veneto, Sicily, Basilicata and Piedmont. They are escorted by the Officer Cadets of the Air Force Academy of Pozzuoli and share with them the week of preparation. The young woman crowned on November 7 will represent Italy at the Opernball, the Vienna State Opera ball held on Shrove Thursday.
The program includes classical dance, live music and artistic performances. After the opening ceremony the traditional «Alles Walzer!» brings the guests to the floor to the most famous Strauss waltzes, played by the Orchestra Vincenzo Bellini di Roma conducted by Lorenzo Lupi. The host is Marianna Taormina, who represented Italy at the Opernball in 2019. The event, conceived by Elvia Venosa, president of the social promotion association Gran Ballo Viennese di Roma, has the patronage of the City of Vienna, the Embassy of Austria in Italy and the Austrian Ministry of Defense.
