«Una reunion attesa e sperata»

The project of «Atlantico Reunion» brings back to the stage the lineup of «Atlantico», the album with which, according to the presentation, Enzo Favata marked a turning point for Italian world music in 1999, blending jazz, South American sounds, poetry and sonic storytelling. After more than twenty-five years the saxophonist, here on soprano, bass clarinet and Andean flutes, reunites the quintet for the new work «Ritornare», released in September and his first title for the label ECM.
Back on stage with Favata for «Atlantico Reunion» are Daniele Di Bonaventura on bandoneon, Marcello Peghin on 10-string guitar and Salvatore Maltana on double bass. On drums is Alessandro Cau, who joined the live lineup after the recent and sudden passing of UT Gandhi (Umberto Trombetta Gandhi), whose sound remains on the new album, recorded before his loss.
For the Roma Jazz Festival, «Atlantico Reunion» is one of the November evenings in Sala Petrassi. The organizers warn that the program may change.
