On Saturday, March 27, 2027, the Waldensian Church of Rome, at Via IV Novembre 107 (00187), hosts a concert by Rome and Of The Wand and The Moon. A ticket costs 30.89 euros and is sold in online presale.
The night brings together two names of European dark folk. ROME is the project of Jérôme Reuter, a singer-songwriter born in Luxembourg: founded in 2005, it blends post-punk, chanson, industrial and synth wave on a base of European folk and chanson traditions. The name is a shortened form of Jerome. It counts at least twenty studio albums, often concepts on history, philosophy and the arts.
In April 2025, for the twentieth anniversary, three works came out: «Civitas Solis», named after Tommaso Campanella's 1602 utopia, «The Dublin Session II», recorded in Ireland with Brian Brody co-producing, and the anthology «Anthology 2016-2025».
:Of The Wand and The Moon: is a Danish neofolk project from Copenhagen, started by Kim Larsen in 1998. The debut, «Nighttime Nightrhymes», is from 1999; among other releases is «The Lone Descent» (2011), considered a reference point of the genre, and the catalog includes «Black Mountain Blues», «Behold the Trees» and «Sonnenheim». The music is described as dark, experimental ambient neofolk, with themes such as love, loss, joy and ancient Germanic paganism.
Rome is the fourteenth stop of a fifteen-date European tour in March 2027 that the two projects share, from Aigle in Switzerland to Linz in Austria, with a stop in Milan on March 26.
Where it takes place: the Waldensian Church on Via IV Novembre
The Evangelical Waldensian Church at Via Quattro Novembre 107, in the Trevi district between Via Nazionale and Piazza Venezia, was the first place of worship built in Rome by the Waldensians. It was inaugurated in 1884 to a design by Benedetto Pandolfi: the exterior is Neo-Romanesque, the interior joins a Neo-Renaissance coffered ceiling, Neoclassical Corinthian columns and Neo-Romanesque paired windows. The acoustics suit music and there is a pipe organ, opus 698, built in 1954 by Carlo Vegezzi Bossi.
