The official description
“to go through some of the key stages of a composer”
Text from the official page of Cultura Roma Capitale, source
The concert devoted to Stravinsky is the second event in the “Ritratto d'autore” series, a cycle of concerts curated by Roma Tre Orchestra that from October 7, 2026 to February 16, 2027 devotes one evening to each composer: after Wagner it's Stravinsky's turn, then Brahms and Schubert will follow.
The program includes the Three Easy Pieces, the Five Easy Pieces and Petrushka. The easy pieces, written for piano four hands, show, according to the presentation, the composer's taste for concision, irony and rhythmic experimentation.
Alongside these miniatures comes Petrushka, described as one of the masterpieces that marked the start of 20th-century musical modernity. The story of the puppet becomes a score of great rhythmic and tonal vitality, where folk tradition, harmonic innovation and theatrical force come together.
The performance is entrusted to two pianists at the same keyboard, Scapicchi and Bravi. The program, Teatro di Roma notes, may change.
Where it takes place: Teatro di Villa Torlonia
Teatro Torlonia was commissioned by Prince Alessandro Torlonia, who in 1841 hired the architect Quintiliano Raimondi to build it. Work went on for a long time and the theater was finished in 1874, the year carved on the proscenium arch. The decorations are by Costantino Brumidi.
After the City of Rome acquired Villa Torlonia in 1978 and a long restoration, the hall reopened to the public on December 7, 2013 and is now part of Fondazione Teatro di Roma. Other titles hosted by the venue: Il teatro dell'amore e del potere and Archimede with Mario Incudine.
