Once again this year the collaboration between the Accademia and Rai-RadioTre for the Lezioni di Musica series, live at Sala Casella, is renewed. Hosted by Giovanni Bietti, the Lessons are aimed at the widest and most varied audience, curious listeners, enthusiasts, even professionals, feature performers of the highest level and alternate explanation with the performance of pieces of music. This year the series is made up of four sessions exploring the history and repertoire of one of the most loved and widespread musical instruments, the piano. Four prestigious performers will let us hear significant pieces of the piano repertoire, starting from the 18th century and coming right up to our own day: from Mozart and Beethoven to Kurtág and Benjamin, by way of Schumann, Chopin, Debussy and many other composers.

Where it takes place: Sala Casella, Accademia Filarmonica Romana
Founded in 1821 by a group of amateur musicians led by the Marquis Raffaele Muti Papazzurri, the Accademia Filarmonica Romana traces on its website a history of dissolutions and refoundings, up to its transformation into a concert society in 1920. Among the 20th-century artistic directors, the website recalls Alfredo Casella and Goffredo Petrassi.
Its home is the Casina Vagnuzzi, overlooking the gardens where the Accademia holds its summer season. The building passed from Stanislao Poniatowski to Luigi Vagnuzzi, from whom it takes its name. Nearby is Villa Giulia, while the neighborhood is described in the guide Flaminio, what to see.
