The event

To Italian audiences Ciccio Merolla is the percussionist of «Malatìa», the song written for Napoli's league title, which went viral on social media and reached, according to the music press, 25 million views on TikTok. Behind that success lies a forty-year career that began in the Quartieri Spagnoli of Naples.

The career starts in the late 1980s: in 1988 with the Panoramics and a tour with English saxophonist Peter Gordon, in 1989 in Pino Daniele's project «Blues metropolitano», in 1990 as percussionist on the Gipsy Kings' European tour «El Rumbero». Since 1996 he has worked with Enzo Gragnaniello, and his résumé also lists Daniele Sepe, Rino Zurzolo, James Senese and Eugenio Bennato. His first solo record, «Nun pressà o'sole», made entirely of percussion, came out in 2004; «Kokoro», his first rap album, followed in 2008; in 2012 he released «Stella Napulitana» with Nino D'Angelo.

The Rome concert is among the first dates of the winter tour produced by Veragency, which includes two appearances, one in Naples and one in Rome. They are billed as previews, a chance to hear tracks from the new record, due out in autumn. In Naples the date is set for October 20, 2026 at Teatro Augusteo, where local press describes a show of tammorre, frame drums, electronics and voices.

Largo describes the live project as a journey that joins Neapolitan tradition with other sounds, from afrobeat to folk, from funk to rap. For anyone who knows only «Malatìa», it is a chance to hear the repertoire of a musician who has moved through classic Neapolitan song, world music and hip hop.

Largo Venue occupies a former industrial warehouse reclaimed to serve again as a cultural space, in the eastern part of Rome next to Pigneto. It is a multipurpose space with a large outdoor area, designed for live music. The concert is held in the Sala Main.
