The event
The exhibition remembers Luchino Visconti 120 years after his birth and 50 years after his death. It is curated by Caterina d'Amico and Gian Luca Farinelli and promoted by the Fondazione Cinema per Roma, in collaboration with Castel Sant'Angelo.
Passing through the rooms of the fortress, a place that preserves history and has always attracted the imagination of filmmakers, visitors enter the workshop of Visconti and his collaborators. They follow the dialogue with Tomasi di Lampedusa's masterpiece and the work of the screenwriters, the set designer, the set dresser, the costume designer, the great tailoring houses and the composer.
All of them are working on something that would become much more than a film, a new way of representing history by letting it enter legend: «Il Gattopardo» (The Leopard).
Where it takes place: Castel Sant'Angelo
Castel Sant'Angelo, at Lungotevere Castello 50, overlooks the Tiber. In the same museum you can also see Fuochi sul Tevere. For the area: the Castel Sant'Angelo page and the one on Prati e Borgo.
