Where it takes place: Alcazar Live

The name recalls Soul Train, the American music and dance TV show created by Don Cornelius, which aired from October 2, 1971 to March 27, 2006 with more than 1,100 episodes and a record 34 consecutive full seasons. Cornelius opened it with the line «the hippest trip in America». It hosted rhythm and blues, soul, dance pop and hip hop artists, but also funk, jazz, disco and gospel. The Alcazar presentation doesn't explain the link with the show: the connection is in the name only.

In the venue, set in a former movie theater, the website points to a lower floor with a coat check. For private parties write to events@alcazarlive.it, for artistic direction to music@alcazarlive.it. Among nearby nights in a similar genre there's Beat the 90's.

For an overview of the venue's whole program there's the page Alcazar Live.

The Alcazar website also lists a restaurant, a bar area with cocktails and, on weekends during the day, MƏRKAT, open from 10:00 to 19:00. Dinner tables are booked through an online service given on the website, while private parties have a dedicated contact. There's no dress code, but the venue excludes sportswear, shorts and swimsuits.
