«Artisti a Villa Borghese» is the series of talks offered by the Sovrintendenza Capitolina ai Beni Culturali for the third year in a row and hosted at Museo Carlo Bilotti. The program, which began in June, closes with the November 6, 2026 event, and its theme is contemporary art culture in relation to the artistic and natural heritage of the city's historic villas, reinterpreted by today's artists through different languages, aesthetics and styles.
The invited artists talk with scholars, art critics and specialist journalists on different levels: talks, exclusive interviews and screening series. The idea is to look at the heritage of the historic villas from an «other» point of view, as the Surrealists taught, that is, through the lens of art. The program is curated by Claudio Crescentini of the Sovrintendenza Capitolina.
The November 6 event, titled «Madrenatura. Nina Maroccolo e Plinio Perilli tribute», is the only one in the series still on the calendar: the others took place on October 9, 16 and 23.
Where it takes place: Museo Carlo Bilotti
Museo Carlo Bilotti is a contemporary art museum housed in the Aranciera of Villa Borghese. It holds paintings, sculptures and watercolors from the collection donated by Italian-American entrepreneur and collector Carlo Bilotti, which includes works by Giorgio De Chirico, paintings by Gino Severini, Andy Warhol and Larry Rivers, and a sculpture by Giacomo Manzù.
In the same months the museum is showing the exhibitions States of Uncertain Domesticities and Marina Bindella. Cosmografie. During the series' talks, though, the museum and its current exhibitions can't be visited: free admission covers only the area where the talk takes place.
