Gianna Nannini at Palazzo dello Sport in Rome: March 31, 2027
Gianna Nannini plays at Palazzo dello Sport in Rome on Wednesday, March 31, 2027 at 21:00, the sixth Italian stop of the GiannaGold Celebration Tour Live 2027, the arena tour with which the singer-songwriter from Siena celebrates 50 years since her first album. The venue is in the EUR district, at Piazzale Pier Luigi Nervi 1, 00144 Rome. You get there by Metro B: the useful stops are EUR Palasport and EUR Fermi, and from Termini Line B takes you to EUR without changes. Prices are published by the authorized reseller indicated by the organizer, tickets are bought on the presale circuit authorized by Vivo Concerti, which produces and organizes the tour, and at the linked points of sale. It's best to be wary of any other channel: the organizer itself declines all responsibility for purchases made outside the official circuits.
For those who live in Rome it's an appointment with a voice the city knows well, and for those coming from out of town it's a good reason to spend an evening in EUR at a mild time of year. Below you'll find everything you need: who Gianna Nannini is, what the GiannaGold project stands for, what the venue is like, how to get there, where to eat and how to organize the evening without surprises.
Who Is Gianna Nannini: the Rocker from Siena Who Conquered Europe
Gianna Nannini was born in Siena on June 14, 1954 and released her first album, titled simply Gianna Nannini, in 1976 on Ricordi. From there began a career that the official biography sums up in three words, rock, grit and energy, and that in fact led an Italian singer-songwriter to fill arenas and stadiums in Germany, Austria and Switzerland like very few of her compatriots.
The conservatory and the escape to Milan
Her training is classical: seven years of conservatory, piano and composition. At 19 she left home and moved to Milan, where she began performing in the venues of the city's alternative circuit. It's a step that explains much of her later style: the technique of someone who has studied, put at the service of a rough voice and an attitude that rejects the good manners of Italian-style song.
Flora Fauna Cemento and the first label
In 1974, even before the solo record, the label Number One of Claudio Fabi and Mara Maionchi noticed her. Gianna became the female voice of the group Flora Fauna Cemento, with which she wrote and recorded Stereotipati noi, the song that led to the Un disco per l'estate event. It's a minor debut, yet it already contains the knot of everything to come: a talent that doesn't let itself be pigeonholed.
The Ricordi contract and the 1976 record
Ricordi, the historic record company, offered her her first contract. The debut album of 1976 came out in Italy, Switzerland and Austria. The note released by Vivo Concerti for the 2026 reissue describes it as a record that already shows the scratchy voice, the rock energy and a provocative, nonconformist attitude, with songs that weave 1970s singer-songwriter tradition with rock and experimental sounds and take on delicate social themes. It is exactly that record that the 2027 tour celebrates, 50 years later.
Gianna Nannini from the 1970s to the 1980s: California, Puzzle, Profumo
The breakthrough came in 1979 with the album California and the single America, which in 1980 reached the top of the charts in Germany and Northern Europe. California became platinum in Italy and gold in Germany, Switzerland and Austria: it was the first time the German-speaking market noticed her, and it would never let go.
Una radura and the first piano and voice concerts
Before California there is Una radura, the second album, and there are the first important collaborations, including the one with PFM. In those years Gianna also invented her first concerts for piano and voice, a formula that would return several times in her career, up to the theater tours of the 2000s.
GN, Peter Zumsteg and the Gienne label
In 1981 came GN, an experimental album produced by Roberto Cacciapaglia. In the same period Gianna met Peter Zumsteg, a manager with long international experience, and with him founded the self-managed independent label Gienne. The partnership lasted 23 years. Together they also wrote the soundtrack of Sconcerto Rock by Luciano Mannuzzi, a film produced by Bernardo Bertolucci.
Latin Lover and Conny Plank
The meeting with the German producer Conny Plank generated in 1982 Latin Lover, her fifth album, with the participation of musicians like Annie Lennox. The record went gold in Germany, Austria and Switzerland and platinum in Italy. In October Gianna played on the stage of the Rockpalast in Essen, live on Eurovision for five hours, alongside Kid Creole and The Coconuts. Two songs, Vieni ragazzo and Come un treno, entered the soundtrack of Identificazione di una donna by Michelangelo Antonioni.
Puzzle, Fotoromanza and the consecration
In 1984 Puzzle, again with Conny Plank producing, entered the top 10 in Italy, Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The single Fotoromanza, with a video directed by Michelangelo Antonioni, was the song of the summer: it won the Festivalbar, the Vota la Voce prize and a golden Telegatto, and went to number one in Italy, Switzerland and Austria. A long European tour followed, touching Berlin, Cologne and the Montreux Jazz Festival.
Tutto live, Profumo and Bello e impossibile
In 1985 came the first live album, Tutto live, recorded between Berlin, Montreux, Siena, Locarno and Dortmund. In 1986 Profumo passed a million copies sold across Europe, South America, South Africa, Australia, South Korea and Japan. It includes Bello e impossibile, perhaps her best-known song outside Italy, a hit across the German-speaking area.
Maschi e altri and Malafemmina
1987 was the year of the first compilation, Maschi e altri, which passed half a million copies in Europe alone. I maschi debuted at the World Popular Song Festival in Tokyo. In 1988 came Malafemmina, co-produced with Alan Moulder, preceded by Hey Bionda, theme of the Festivalbar: platinum in Italy and Switzerland. In the same year came the big concert at the Waldbühne in Berlin, the one that the GiannaGold project has returned to celebrate 38 years later.
Gianna Nannini in the 1990s: Un'estate italiana, Scandalo, Meravigliosa creatura
The decade opened with Un'estate italiana, the song of the 1990 World Cup, and with Scandalo, an album produced by Dave M. Allen of the Cure that took her into the stadiums of half of Europe. These are years in which Gianna alternates big numbers with side choices, often against the grain.
Scandalo and the collaborations with Pelù and Vecchioni
Scandalo was recorded with a band of musicians from different European countries and distributed as far as Japan, Thailand and Hong Kong. In the same period Gianna wrote songs with Piero Pelù, including Spiriti amanti, and with Roberto Vecchioni, including Sorridi and Due ragazze. The triumphant 1990 tour was documented in 1991 by a live album and a long concert film, Giannissima.
The return to Tuscan roots
At the University of Siena she took part in the Cantar Toscano project, dedicated to the folk songs of her land. From that experience came in 1993 X forza e X amore, an album with a radical folk imprint produced by Dave M. Allen. In the single Radio Baccano the final rap is by Jovanotti.
The degree in Philosophy
In 1994 she graduated in Philosophy at the University of Siena with top marks and honors. The thesis is titled Il corpo nella voce and studies the relationships between body and voice from a musical anthropology perspective. On May 1 of the same year she sang at the concert in Piazza San Giovanni in Rome and presented Ottava vita live for the first time.
Dispetto and Meravigliosa creatura
In 1995 came Dispetto, again with Dave M. Allen, preceded by Meravigliosa creatura, which radio stations played right after midnight on January 1. It's one of her best-loved songs, and years later an acoustic version would end up in Fiat Bravo ads. The compilation Bomboloni followed in 1996, platinum in Italy, and Cuore in 1998, produced by Fabrizio Barbacci with strings arranged by Will Malone, who would become her go-to collaborator for more than a decade.
Gianna Nannini from 2000: Grazie, Sei nell'anima and the Platinum Records
The new millennium began for Gianna Nannini in front of 500,000 people in Turin, and continued with the best-selling record in Italy in 2006, Grazie. These are the years of maturity, in which the Italian public rediscovers her en masse.
Momo, Aria and the Nastro d'Argento
In 2001 she wrote the soundtrack of the animated film Momo by Enzo D'Alò, whose first 18 minutes were screened at the Venice Film Festival, for that work she received the Nastro d'Argento in 2002. From the meeting with the writer Isabella Santacroce came Aria, which joins Mediterranean rock with contemporary electronic pop.
Perle and the tour with the string quartet
In 2004 Perle presented 12 hits in new arrangements, with Christian Lohr on second piano and the Solis String Quartet, a Neapolitan quartet. The record went platinum in Italy and gold in Switzerland, and the theater tour that accompanied it lasted until 2005. In 2005 Gianna also published her first book with Rizzoli, Io, subtitled autoscatto senza rimpianti.
Grazie and Sei nell'anima
Grazie, released in February 2006 and co-produced with Will Malone, reached number one on the Italian chart and went diamond in six months, at the end of the year it was the best-selling album in Italy and won the album of the year prize at the Festivalbar. Sei nell'anima became the soundtrack of Manuale d'amore 2 by Giovanni Veronesi. In the same year Gianna recorded Ama credi e vai with Andrea Bocelli.
Pia, GiannaBest and the Sanremo won as an author
In 2007 she released Pia come la canto io, a collection of songs written for a rock opera on Pia de' Tolomei, the woman from Siena remembered by Dante in Purgatorio, to a libretto by Pia Pera. The compilation GiannaBest also came out, diamond in a few months. In 2008 Colpo di fulmine, written by her and sung by Lola Ponce and Giò Di Tonno, won the Sanremo Festival. The same year she opened Bon Jovi's Lost Highway tour concerts in Germany.
Giannadream and Amiche per l'Abruzzo
Giannadream, Solo i sogni sono veri, from 2009, passed 400,000 copies. On June 21, 2009 Gianna was on the San Siro stage for Amiche per l'Abruzzo, the all-female concert with Laura Pausini, Fiorella Mannoia, Giorgia and Elisa, for the occasion she wrote Donna d'onna. All proceeds went to the reconstruction of L'Aquila.
Gianna Nannini from 2010 to Today: Io e te, Inno, Hitalia and the Netflix Film
Io e te, from 2011, recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London, reached number one in Italy, and from there Gianna Nannini strung together three number-one albums: Io e te, Inno and Hitalia. The sales figures are solid, the tours ever bigger.
Io e te and the tour of 170,000 tickets
Io e te came out on January 11, 2011, produced by Will Malone with a London orchestra. The Italian tour that started on April 29 touched 15 cities, Rome included, and closed with 170,000 tickets sold, a European leg followed in Germany, Switzerland and the Netherlands. In November of the same year Gianna received a prize in Düsseldorf during the UNESCO Gala.
Inno, Hitalia and Hitstory
Inno came out on January 15, 2013, entirely new songs, and the tour that accompanied it started from Rome on April 12. On December 1, 2014 came Hitalia, which a month after release was already platinum and reached number one on the Italian chart. In 2015 Hitstory collected 32 hits in the standard version. In those years she received the Elsa Morante prize, awarded for her ability to reinterpret the writer's verses.
The Arena di Verona in the rain
On May 14, 2016, with the Hitstory Tour, Gianna sang at the Arena di Verona accompanied by the Bohemian Symphony Orchestra of Prague: 15,000 spectators stayed seated under incessant rain for more than three hours of concert. It's the same orchestra that accompanied her in Berlin in September 2026.
Amore gigante, La differenza, Sei nel l'anima
In 2017 Amore gigante, preceded by Fenomenale, went gold, on February 9, 2018 Gianna was a super guest at Sanremo, as she had been in 2015. La differenza followed in 2019 and Sei nel l'anima in March 2024, preceded by the single Silenzio. In 2024 Netflix released Sei nell'anima, a biographical film with Letizia Toni as Gianna, which tells of her rise amid rebellions against family, record companies and conventions. Between 2024 and 2025 her concerts number more than 30, all sold out.
GiannaGold: the Project with Which Gianna Nannini Celebrates 50 Years of Music
GiannaGold is the two-year project with which Gianna Nannini celebrates 50 years since the release of her first album, and it includes a new record out on November 6, 2026, an event concert in Berlin and the arena tour of 2027. Vivo Concerti defines it as a project that looks far ahead: two years of music and concerts.
The album of November 6, 2026
The GiannaGold record contains 29 songs, of which four are unreleased and 10 completely rearranged in orchestral versions, and comes out on EMI Records and Universal Music Italia. The formats are the double CD, the triple black vinyl, the numbered and autographed double CD and the numbered and autographed triple red vinyl, the latter exclusively on the online stores of Universal and of the artist. Preorder started on September 25, 2026.
America Inc. with Marracash
The first piece is AMERICA inc., a new version of America, the 1979 hit, produced by Gianna together with Dardust and re-sung as a duet with Marracash. According to Vivo Concerti the song stayed five weeks on the podium of the EarOne Ariplay Rock chart.
Meraviglioso errore, written with Brunori Sas and Dimartino
Meraviglioso errore, released on August 28, 2026, is written by Gianna with Brunori Sas and Dimartino: it's the first collaboration between the rocker and the singer-songwriter from Calabria. The symphonic part was recorded in London with Gavin Greenaway, who wrote and conducted the orchestra and played piano, the mix is by Manny Marroquin, winner of 14 Grammys. The video is directed by Attilio Cusani. Brunori, in the press release, calls her an authentic rocker, "one of the few today who deserve that title." Anyone who wants to hear him live in the city in November will find Brunori Sas at Auditorium Conciliazione.
The reissues of California and of the debut record
The project also goes through the catalog. After the reissue of California, on September 11, 2026 a reissue of the 1976 album Gianna Nannini came out on USM and Universal Music Italia, in a numbered, limited run on gold and black splatter vinyl, with a dedicated commentary and an autographed card.
Berlin, September 19, 2026
The first live chapter took place on Saturday, September 19, 2026 at the Waldbühne in Berlin, the open-air arena where Gianna had played in 1988 and where the Rolling Stones, Rammstein and Depeche Mode have passed through. According to Vivo Concerti's press release the evening was sold out with 20,000 people, for more than two hours of concert with the Bohemian Symphony Orchestra Prague, 46 members conducted by Martin Šanda, together with the band.

The European leg in October
After Italy the tour restarts in October 2027 with eight concerts across Germany and Switzerland: Hamburg on the 14th, Leipzig on the 16th, Frankfurt on the 18th, Stuttgart on the 20th, Munich on the 22nd, Nuremberg on the 23rd, Düsseldorf on the 26th and Zurich on the 29th. The fact that the German dates are almost as many as the Italian ones says a lot about the weight Gianna carries north of the Alps.
Why Rome comes mid-tour
Rome is the sixth date, two and a half weeks after the Milan opening. For concertgoers it's often the best moment: the show is broken in, the timing has settled, the band has found its stride. Official information on the tour is on the Vivo Concerti site, the artist's full story is on the official Gianna Nannini website.
A Curiosity About Gianna Nannini at Palazzo dello Sport in Rome, March 31, 2027
Few Italian singers can claim such a close relationship with art-house cinema, and almost none with Michelangelo Antonioni. In 1982 two songs by Gianna Nannini, Vieni ragazzo and Come un treno, entered the soundtrack of Identificazione di una donna, Antonioni's film of that year. Two years later the same director made the video for Fotoromanza, the single from Puzzle that won the Festivalbar and dominated the summer of 1984. The director of L'Avventura and Blow-Up shooting a pop video is an episode that says a lot about the prestige Gianna had already won by the age of 30.
Cinema returns more than once. In 1983 she acted as Titania in Sogno di una notte di mezza estate, Gabriele Salvatores's first film, and worked on the soundtrack with Mauro Pagani. In 2001 she wrote the music for Momo by Enzo D'Alò, awarded the Nastro d'Argento. In 2010 she played herself in Genitori e figli by Giovanni Veronesi, with a song written for the occasion, Sogno, nominated for the Nastro d'Argento. In 2024, finally, cinema tells her story: Sei nell'anima, on Netflix, with Letizia Toni as the lead.
There is also a thread that ties Gianna to cultured musical theater. On May 1, 1987 she sang with Sting and Jack Bruce at the Schauspielhaus in Hamburg a selection of songs by Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill, broadcast by Rai and by many European television stations. Anyone who knows her only for Bello e impossibile discovers a performer who has always frequented territories far from the hit parade.
What to Expect from Gianna Nannini's Concert in Rome
The GiannaGold Celebration Tour is built to retrace the whole career of Gianna Nannini, and the official 2027 set list has not yet been published. What is known comes from the project and from the Berlin concert, where the singer went through the most celebrated songs of her 50 years of career.
A repertoire covering half a century
There's no shortage of material: America from 1979, Fotoromanza from 1984, Bello e impossibile from 1986, I maschi from 1987, Hey Bionda from 1988, Meravigliosa creatura from 1995, Sei nell'anima from 2006, to cite only the titles the audience knows by heart. To these are added the project's new songs, Meraviglioso errore and the reworking of America with Marracash, which on the November record will be joined by other unreleased tracks. Which ones will make the set list in Rome, the evening will tell.
The orchestra: what is known and what isn't
In Berlin Gianna was accompanied by the Bohemian Symphony Orchestra Prague and by her band, and the GiannaGold record contains 10 songs rearranged for orchestra. For the Italian arena dates, however, Vivo Concerti's press releases do not announce an orchestra on stage. Better not to take it for granted: the heart of the tour is the band, and the symphonic dimension might remain a hallmark of the Berlin event.
The voice, after 50 years
Anyone who has seen Gianna live in recent years knows that the rough voice has remained her main instrument, and that her concerts run long: at the Arena di Verona in 2016 she went past three hours, in Berlin in 2026 past two. It's one of the few concerts by Italian artists with half a century of career in which nostalgia isn't enough to explain the success. The audience goes because she, on stage, still plays rock.
Something Nobody Tells You About Gianna Nannini at Palazzo dello Sport in Rome, March 31, 2027
The most daring Rome concert of Gianna Nannini's career was held not in an arena or a stadium, but on a balcony of Palazzo Farnese. In July 1995, at 11:40 in the morning, together with a group of Greenpeace activists, Gianna climbed onto a balcony of the palace, home of the French embassy, and improvised a protest concert against the French government's decision to resume nuclear tests at Mururoa. It's one of the most unusual episodes of her story, and no exaggeration: one of the most famous Renaissance palaces in the city turned into a stage for a rocker from Siena is an image few in Rome remember.
It isn't an isolated gesture. That year marks the beginning of the collaboration with Greenpeace: the 1995 Extravaganza Club Tour was organized using only solar energy, and already in 1993 a concert of her club tour, in Alessandria, was in favor of the association. Also in 1995 Gianna played at Cinecittà in the Concerto di solidarietà per gli immigrati, with Pino Daniele, Jovanotti and Luca Carboni, and in Turin in the Concerto per il Tibet, alongside Timoria, Nomadi and a choir of 16 Tibetan monks.
There is also a detail that ties her commitment to the most popular music. The lyrics of Un'estate italiana, the song of the 1990 World Cup sung with Edoardo Bennato to music by Giorgio Moroder, were born from the collaboration between the two, and all rights tied to the lyrics were donated to Amnesty International. Whoever sings it at the top of their lungs in an arena perhaps doesn't know it, but is singing a song that funded a cause.
Gianna Nannini and Rome: Concerts and Places in the City
Rome is a city where Gianna Nannini has left precise traces, from the May 1 stage in Piazza San Giovanni to Palazzo dello Sport in EUR. Lining up these episodes helps to understand what it means for her to come back here.
Piazza San Giovanni, May 1, 1994
In 1994 she sang at the traditional May 1 concert in Piazza San Giovanni and presented Ottava vita live for the first time. It's the most popular stage in Italy, in front of the Basilica of San Giovanni in Laterano.
Cinecittà and Palazzo Farnese, 1995
The following year she was at Cinecittà for the solidarity concert for immigrants and on the balcony of Palazzo Farnese with Greenpeace. Two symbolic places of the city, used within a few months for two different causes.
The two Rome evenings of 2007
With the Pia come la canto io tour, in 2007, Gianna gave two evenings in Rome, both sold out. The official biography remembers them next to the concert in the rain at the Arena di Verona.
MAXXI and Michelangelo Pistoletto, 2011
On March 3, 2011 she took part in the opening of an exhibition dedicated to Michelangelo Pistoletto at MAXXI: she sang live and created with the artist a vocal installation, Terzo Paradiso Mama. Her relationship with contemporary art is a lesser-known and continuous chapter of her career, from the sound installations in Moscow to those in London.
The start of the Inno tour, 2013
The Inno tour started from Rome on April 12, 2013, then touched the main arenas and stadiums of Italy and Europe until the end of July in Germany. It isn't the first or the last time the capital opens or hosts one of her major tours.
Palazzo dello Sport in EUR: the Venue of Gianna Nannini's Concert
Palazzo dello Sport in Rome was designed by Pier Luigi Nervi with Marcello Piacentini for the 1960 Olympics and is at Piazzale Pier Luigi Nervi 1, in EUR. It's the city's big indoor venue for concerts, and the page for Palazzo dello Sport tells its whole story.
Nervi, Piacentini and the Olympics
The name of Pier Luigi Nervi is enough to place the building: the engineer who made reinforced concrete an art form signs here, with Piacentini, one of the emblematic venues of the Rome Games. The building was born for sport, and even today it alternates sporting events, shows and concerts.
Palaeur, PalaLottomatica, Palazzo dello Sport
Romans call it by many names, and each corresponds to an era. In the 1980s it was Palaeur, and under that name it appears in the archive of Bob Dylan's concerts of 1984 and 1987. Later it became PalaLottomatica, the name by which Gianna Nannini's official biography indicates the Rome concert of December 2, 2017. Today it is Palazzo dello Sport again. If a friend tells you "see you at Palaeur," he means the same place.
What a concert is like in here
For concerts, the hall is split between the floor and the stands that rise all around. The choice of section matters: the floor gives you the energy of the crowd, the stands give you the overall view and a seat, which at a long concert is no small detail. The seating plan and the entry rules are published by the authorized seller at the time of purchase.
My advice for visiting Gianna Nannini at Palazzo dello Sport in Rome, March 31, 2027
It pays to arrive at the concert prepared, and I'm not talking about tickets. GiannaGold is a tour that celebrates one specific record, the 1976 debut album, and a story of 50 years. If you listen to at least three records in a row in the weeks before, the first album, California and Puzzle, you arrive at Palazzo dello Sport with the right ears: you understand where the voice you'll hear comes from, why certain songs became anthems and why others, rougher ones, still have a loyal audience. If you have more time, add Grazie, the record that put her back at the top of the charts in 2006.
On the practical side, the advice is the usual one for EUR on a weekday evening: Metro B, no car. March 31, 2027 is a Wednesday, and Line B takes you from the center to Palazzo dello Sport with no changes from Termini. A car, on a concert night, means traffic on arrival and queues on the way out. The metro means arriving relaxed and leaving on foot.
Third piece of advice: agree on a meeting point outside the hall before you go in. Palazzo dello Sport has several entrances, and at the end of the concert the crowd comes out all at once. A fixed point, chosen in daylight and not in the dark, solves half the problems of people who go to concerts in a group. Finally, if the budget allows, choose the low side stand: for a long concert, with a singer who fills the whole stage, it's the best compromise between closeness and comfort.
How to get to the Gianna Nannini concert at Palazzo dello Sport
The easiest way to get to Palazzo dello Sport is Metro B, with the stops EUR Palasport and EUR Fermi. From Termini, Line B reaches EUR with no changes.
By metro
There are two useful stops on Line B: EUR Palasport, which carries the name of the hall, and EUR Fermi, about 530 meters away as the crow flies. From Termini, the Colosseum or Piramide, Line B takes you to EUR directly, with no changes. If you start from an area served by Line A, change at Termini.
From Termini station
If you arrive in Rome by train that day, you have the easiest route: get off at Termini, take Metro B toward Laurentina and arrive at EUR with no changes. It's also the right solution for anyone coming from elsewhere in Italy for the day, as long as you check the time of the last return train.
By bus
EUR is served by several surface lines, but routes change over time and in the evening the frequencies get longer. For a concert the metro remains the most reliable choice. If you prefer the bus, check lines and stops on the website of Rome's public transport company on the same day.
By car and parking
By car, EUR can be reached from Via Cristoforo Colombo and from the Grande Raccordo Anulare, but on concert nights the area around Palazzo dello Sport fills up. If you choose the car anyway, plan to arrive very early and to leave calmly, and respect the parking bans: tow-aways on event nights are not rare.
By taxi
A taxi is convenient on the way there, less so on the way back, when hundreds of people look for one at the same time. A practical solution is to walk a few hundred meters away from the hall before calling one, or to take the metro to the center and a taxi from there.
Another well-known fact, yet rarely mentioned
Everyone knows that Gianna Nannini sang Un'estate italiana. It's less often remembered that the song that symbolizes Italia 90 is also one of the proofs of how far her career crossed the border between rock, popular song and big collective events. In 1989 Gianna worked with Edoardo Bennato on the lyrics, to music by Giorgio Moroder. The song became the theme of the 1990 World Cup, and the rights to the lyrics went to Amnesty International.
The second well-known and rarely mentioned fact concerns Sanremo. Gianna Nannini didn't build her career on the Festival, but she did win it: in 2008 Colpo di fulmine, written by her, triumphed sung by Lola Ponce and Giò Di Tonno. In 2015 and in 2018 she returned to the Ariston as a guest star. It's an intermittent, almost sideways presence, which fits her figure well: hugely popular and always a bit out of step.
The third concerns her studies. Her degree in Philosophy in 1994 at the University of Siena, with honors, came when Gianna was almost 40 and already a European star. Her thesis, Il corpo nella voce, studies exactly the instrument that the audience at Palazzo dello Sport will hear live: the relationship between the body and the voice, from the perspective of musical anthropology. A singer who graduates by studying her own craft is a rare case, and it helps to understand the care with which she builds her concerts.
Tickets for Gianna Nannini in Rome: where to buy them and what to know
Tickets for Gianna Nannini at Palazzo dello Sport have been on sale since August 28, 2026 through the presale circuit authorized by the organizer and at the linked points of sale. The prices for the different sections are published by the authorized seller indicated by Vivo Concerti.
Presale dates
General sale for the Italian dates started on Friday, August 28, 2026 at 14:00, preceded the day before, Thursday, August 27 at 14:00, by a presale reserved for members of Gianna Nannini's official fan club. The European dates in October had a separate presale at the end of September.
Buying safely
Vivo Concerti writes in every press release that the organizer declines all responsibility for tickets bought outside the authorized circuits. The advice is simple: buy only from the channel indicated on the organizer's website or on the artist's official website, and be wary of secondary sellers, social media groups and private ads.
Which section to choose
The floor is for those who want to stand near the stage and experience the concert in the middle of the crowd. The stands are for those who prefer a numbered seat and the overall view. For a concert that could run past two hours, with an audience spanning three generations, the stand is often the wisest choice if you come with parents or children.
Moving in good time
Gianna Nannini's concerts in 2024 and 2025 numbered more than 30, all sold out. It's not a guarantee for the future, but it's an indication to keep in mind: if you want a specific section, you do well not to wait until the last weeks.
The right photo to take at Gianna Nannini at Palazzo dello Sport in Rome, March 31, 2027
The right photo, for me, is taken outside before you go in. Palazzo dello Sport is a work by Pier Luigi Nervi, and its great roof, seen from below at sunset, with the light falling over EUR, is worth the walk from the metro all by itself. At the end of March the sun sets around 19:30, after the switch to daylight saving time: if you arrive an hour before the concert, you have the right light for a photo of the building with the sky still bright.
Inside, the best photo is not the stage zoomed in to the maximum with your phone, which always comes out grainy. It's the one of the whole hall, taken from the top of a stand, with the audience lit by the stage lights and Gianna's figure small at the center. It conveys the idea of a concert in a sports arena better than any close-up, and it tells what the tour wants to be: a collective party for 50 years of music.
A piece of advice about good manners, before photography: shoot little and look a lot. Anyone who holds the phone up for a whole song blocks the view of whoever is seated or standing behind, and misses the best part of the evening. One photo at the start, one during the song you love most, one at the end. The rest is better remembered.
Finally, on the way out: if the night is clear, the view of EUR lit up, with the Square Colosseum standing out on the axis of the neighborhood, is a last shot that few people take and that closes the story of the evening well.
EUR around Palazzo dello Sport: what to see before the Gianna Nannini concert
EUR is the neighborhood born for the 1942 World's Fair, which never took place, and around Palazzo dello Sport it concentrates some of the most recognizable buildings of 20th-century Rome. If you arrive an hour early, you have something to walk to. The guide to EUR and what to see helps you choose.
The little lake and the walk
The EUR lake is a few steps from the hall: a walk along its banks is the best way to pass the wait, especially on an evening at the end of March with the days already long.
The Colosseo Quadrato and the axis of the neighborhood
The Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana, which everyone calls the Square Colosseum, is the symbol of the neighborhood and one of the most photographed buildings in the city. Seeing it at dusk, before a concert, is a small privilege of people who go to concerts at EUR.
Museums, churches and contemporary architecture
In the neighborhood you'll find the Museo delle Civiltà, the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul and the Fuksas Cloud, the convention center that added a contemporary mark to EUR. Museum hours don't fit with a concert evening on a weekday, but if you're coming from out of town you can give the morning or the afternoon to the neighborhood.
Some important events that happened here in history
The first event is the birth of the hall itself. Palazzo dello Sport was built for the 1960 Rome Olympics, designed by Pier Luigi Nervi with Marcello Piacentini, in a neighborhood that had been conceived for another fair, the 1942 World's Fair, canceled by the war. EUR thus found an international function 18 years later, and Palazzo dello Sport became one of its most recognizable buildings.
The second is the hall's move from sport to music. In the 1980s the Palaeur was already a venue for international concerts: Bob Dylan's official archive lists his dates here on June 19, 20 and 21, 1984 and on October 3, 1987. In those years the arena became for Romans the hall of the big indoor concerts, a role it has never lost.
The third is the change of name, which marks the seasons of the hall. From Palaeur to PalaLottomatica, the name under which Bob Dylan came back on November 12, 2011, up to the return to Palazzo dello Sport. Every generation of Romans has its own name for this building, and often still uses it.
For Gianna Nannini's story, the date to remember is December 2, 2017. After the release of Amore gigante, the singer announced three special concerts in three cities: Rome at PalaLottomatica on December 2, Milan at the Mediolanum Forum on the 4th and Florence at the Nelson Mandela Forum on the 6th. Rome was the first of the three nights, and opened the cycle of the new record. A few months later, from March 29, 2018, Fenomenale Il Tour started in Italian arenas, after a first leg in Germany that began on March 10 in Frankfurt. The March 31, 2027 concert fits into this story: Gianna comes back to the same hall almost 10 years later, with half a century of career behind her.
How to organize your Gianna Nannini evening at Palazzo dello Sport
The Gianna Nannini concert starts at 21:00 on Wednesday, March 31, 2027, and a well-organized evening begins at least an hour earlier. A few precautions make the difference.
Before the concert
Arriving at EUR around 19:30 lets you eat something, take a short walk and join the queue for the checks without rushing. On concert nights the entrances usually open before the start time: the exact time the doors open is announced by the organizer and by the authorized seller in the days before.
What to bring
Ticket and ID, first of all. Then a charged phone, a light layer to put on and take off, because at the end of March the evening outdoors is cool and inside the hall it's warm. It's better to leave big bags and bulky objects at home: the rules on permitted items are published by the venue and by the organizer and should be checked beforehand.
After the concert
On the way out, the crowd splits between the metro, the parking lots and the taxis. If you're in no hurry, you do well to wait a quarter of an hour before moving: the metro empties, the streets clear. If you need to catch a train, check the closing time of the metro and of the last train first.
Who has played here: Gianna Nannini at Palazzo dello Sport in Rome, March 31, 2027
Some of the most important names in music have passed through Palazzo dello Sport, and the first to remember is Bob Dylan. The official archive of his concerts lists three consecutive nights at the Palaeur, on June 19, 20 and 21, 1984, a return on October 3, 1987 and a concert at PalaLottomatica on November 12, 2011. The Nobel laureate in literature playing in Rome for three nights in a row, at EUR, is one of the finest chapters in the history of the hall. If you want to follow what comes next, there is the page on the Bob Dylan concert at Palazzo dello Sport on November 5, 2026.
Then there is Gianna Nannini herself. On December 2, 2017 she was here, at PalaLottomatica, for the first of the three special evenings that accompanied the release of Amore gigante. It's a concert that many Romans remember, and it gives the 2027 return the feel of a reunion.
The 2026 and 2027 season confirms the hall's role as the main indoor stage for the big Italian names. Before Gianna, among others, Raf, Il Volo and Antonello Venditti pass through, and Venditti opens his arena tour here on March 8, 2027. After her comes Elodie, on April 29, 2027. It's a sequence that says a lot: in the same winter and in the same hall you meet different generations of Italian song, and Gianna Nannini, with her 50 years of records, is the most rock veteran among them.
Where to eat before and after the Gianna Nannini concert at EUR
Around Palazzo dello Sport, EUR offers mostly bars, pizzerias, neighborhood restaurants and aperitivo spots, concentrated along the main avenues and near the metro stops. You don't need to book a famous place: you need to choose your timing well.
Before the concert
The most practical solution is a light, early dinner, around 19:00, in a place near the metro or along the route to the hall. On concert nights the places closest to Palazzo dello Sport fill up quickly: if you want to sit down calmly, book or choose a place a few hundred meters away.
After the concert
After 23:00 the choices narrow. If you want to have dinner after the show, you do better to head back toward the center by metro and look there for a trattoria or a pizzeria open late. If you ate earlier, you can finish with a gelato or a drink in a neighborhood bar, if still open.
Accessibility and children at the Gianna Nannini concert
Palazzo dello Sport also welcomes people with reduced mobility, and the access arrangements and dedicated seats must be requested following the instructions of the organizer and of the authorized seller. It's best to move early.
People with disabilities and reduced mobility
For people with disabilities and their companions, the booking procedures for dedicated seats are indicated by the authorized seller and by the venue. It's worth asking right after sales open, because the seats are limited. For anyone who has difficulty walking, the metro stop closest to the hall is the one to prefer.
With children
A rock concert in an arena, in the evening and on a weekday, is not the ideal environment for small children. For older kids, instead, it can be a great chance to discover a singer that their parents, and often their grandparents, know by heart. In that case it's better to choose the stand, bring ear protection and allow for a late return. The rules on minimum age and on tickets for minors are set by the organizer.
Rome at the end of March: the time of the Gianna Nannini concert
The Gianna Nannini concert falls on the Wednesday after Easter: in 2027 Easter Sunday is March 28, and daylight saving time starts the same day. They are two details that matter for anyone planning a trip to Rome.
Easter week is among the busiest of the year in the city: if you come from out of town for the concert and want to add a few days of sightseeing, book lodging and museums well in advance. The advantage is the light: with daylight saving time the days suddenly get longer, and the end of March in Rome is often a mild season, even if a cool evening or a spring rain is not rare. A light jacket is almost always enough.
For people who live in Rome, March 31 is a weekday like any other, and the concert is a midweek evening: the advice, here too, is the metro, which spares you the fight with the traffic of a Wednesday evening at EUR.
