Circolo Arci Concetto Marchesi is an ARCI recreational club with an outdoor park at Via del Frantoio 9c, in Tiburtino III, in Rome's Municipio IV. What the Concetto Marchesi is and what you hear

The declared model is that of the case del popolo: political commitment and leisure in the same place. At the origin, with the support of the local PCI section, an enclosed space for winter, a skating rink, bocce courts, a play area and a refreshment point were built. The neighborhood's first Festa dell'Unità events were held here, and over time Pier Paolo Pasolini, the Inti Illimani, the painter Ennio Calabria and the singer-songwriter Paolo Pietrangeli have passed through.

On the ARCI portal the club lists about 20 areas of activity: concerts, theater, cinema, exhibitions, educational activities for children and teenagers, welcoming migrants, a social help desk, antifascist memory and initiatives for seniors. The live music of recent years has brought names from rap, ska and Roman rock to the park. That festival returned on September 11 and 12, 2026, organized with USB, Movimento di lotta per la Casa, Banda Bassotti Crew, Cambiare Rotta and OSA: debates in the afternoon and, from 21:00, the concerts of Bull Brigade, The Bluebeaters and friends, Santa Canaglia and Radici nel Cemento. In spring the neighborhood calendar recorded the second edition of the Giochi tiburtini, a day of popular sport, preceded by "Il Quaderno Rosso," a social dinner with a concert. On June 6, 2026 the club hosted the public assembly "Cantiere per Roma" promoted by the Metropolitan Federation of the PCI.

A curiosity about the Concetto Marchesi

On September 11, 1973, the day of the coup in Chile, the Inti Illimani were playing right in the club's park, at the Festa dell'Unità of Tiburtino III. 50 years later, on September 12, 2023, the Concetto Marchesi remembered that evening with the documentary "Salvador Allende" by Patricio Guzmán, an Italian-Chilean dinner with AvenidAmerica and the testimonies of Horacio Durán and José Seves, founders of Inti Illimani Histórico. The club's name is that of the Latinist Concetto Marchesi (1878-1957), PCI deputy in the Constituent Assembly.

Tiburtino III, also called Santa Maria del Soccorso, was born as an official borgata built by the Istituto case popolari between 1935 and 1940. Between 1974 and 1990 most of the original low houses were demolished and replaced by small apartment buildings of four to seven floors. Between Via del Badile and Via del Frantoio stood the old welfare complex with school, canteen and Casa del Fascio, today a carabinieri barracks. The streets carry names of farm tools, foreign composers and towns of Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise.
