«Il bosco delle storie di Natale» is freely inspired by the tales of Selma Lagerlöf and by other Nordic legends. On Christmas Eve little Lou stays up reading and, when her open eyes begin to dream, the figures in the books and the words of the legends come alive in the dark of her bedroom.

The play rug, among books, figures, sheets and pillows, turns into a snow-covered forest that blooms under the stars. The animals gather for a party for the return of the light, and the Tomte tells of the wonder of nature’s rebirth.

The Tomte are traditional figures of Scandinavian culture, similar to gnomes, who live in the northern forests and, during Advent, look after animals, plants and children. Every year Lou prepares a tiny little room for her Tomte. After a furious snowstorm, however, the Tomte does not arrive, and a brave robin, helped by the animals of the forest, sets off to look for him and save the girl’s Christmas.

On stage is Miriam Costamagna, with direction by Andrea Lopez Nunes and consultancy by Enrica Carini, author of the dramaturgy and sets. Silhouettes and figures are by Gabriele Genova, lighting by Rossella Corna. The production is by Fondazione TRG and La Piccionaia.

The show belongs to «SomministrArte 2026», the festival for young generations by the Associazione Affabulazione ETS, from October 7 to December 22, 2026, and is a winner of the call «Lo spettacolo dal vivo fuori dal Centro 2026» of Roma Capitale, with the support of the Ministry of Culture.
