The official description
FAI promotes greater awareness of climate change through a program of initiatives devoted to observing the transformations of the environments we live in, understanding their causes and discovering solutions. […] invites us to move from knowledge to action, reminding us that individual and collective choices can help reduce our impact on the environment and build more aware and resilient communities. SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 8, 2026. The Aniene has flowed for millennia, digging, shaping, destroying and recreating. This walk is an invitation to follow its traces: from the first floods that devastated Tivoli, to the 19th-century works that gave shape to Villa Gregoriana, to the effects of climate change that are transforming the landscape today. A guided visit among paths, terraces and caves to understand the past and imagine the future, reading the land as a living story that the climate keeps rewriting. TIMES. At 10:30. Duration: 90 minutes. The visit will start from the main entrance at Largo Sant'Angelo 1. Maximum punctuality is recommended.
Where it takes place: the river that shapes the park
The history of Villa Gregoriana is tied to the floods of the Aniene. After the 1826 flood Pope Gregory XVI had the waters diverted into two tunnels under Monte Catillo, and the park was born as part of that project, inaugurated in 1835. Today the site is run by FAI and the theme of water remains central. To learn more there's the page on Villa Gregoriana Park, and the town is described in Tivoli.
