Where it takes place: Teatro Mancinelli, Orvieto

Teatro Mancinelli is on Corso Cavour, in the old heart of Orvieto, in the area once occupied by Palazzo Orienti. Designed by Virginio Vespignani, it opened its doors on May 19, 1866 with a performance of Donizetti's «Favorita». The current name dates to 1922, when it was dedicated to the musicians Luigi and Marino Mancinelli. Before that the dedication was to the muses Thalia, Melpomene and Euterpe.

The current season is titled «Nuovo Teatro - 160 anni di emozioni», a reference to the years since the opening. The town is described on the Orvieto page.

Who Umberto Galimberti is

Born in Monza on May 2, 1942, Umberto Galimberti graduated in philosophy in 1965 from the Università Cattolica in Milan under Emanuele Severino. Between 1963 and 1965 he had attended the University of Basel, where he came to know the thought of Karl Jaspers. At Ca' Foscari, in Venice, he was an associate professor from 1983, got his full professorship in 1999 and has been professor emeritus since 2015.

He writes for the daily «La Repubblica» and is the author of many essays, including «Psichiatria e fenomenologia» (1979), «Il corpo» (1983), «Dizionario di psicologia» (1992), «Orme del sacro» (2000), «I miti del nostro tempo» (2009) and «Cristianesimo. La religione dal cielo vuoto» (2012).
