During the meeting the project «I Rifugi di Roma Capitale» is presented and, at the same time, all the libraries of the city network offer themed readings. The speakers are Michela Cicculli, president of the Equal Opportunities Commission, Simona Cives, director of the Biblioteche di Roma Capitale, Monica Martinelli, publisher of Settenove, and the Centro antiviolenza Corviale.
According to the official presentation, since September 2026 the Biblioteche di Roma network has been working against gender-based violence with training, meetings and awareness activities. The November 26 meeting is the closing event of the project, and anti-violence centers in the area are invited to take part. The events are aimed at an adult audience.
The project behind I Rifugi di Roma Capitale
The initiative comes from the collaboration between Roma Capitale and the publisher Settenove, with the push of the Capitoline Equal Opportunities Commission in 2026. Settenove has existed since 2013 and works for gender equity with books for children and teenagers, school programs and nonfiction. The national network of Rifugi, launched in 2023 together with Percorso Donna, now counts more than 500 bodies among bookstores and libraries.
The “Rifugio” libraries are neighborhood places where staff are trained to recognize the different types of violence and to guide women in difficulty toward the local anti-violence services, with information materials and book resources.
