The Viterbo Christmas Village began in 2016 and in 2026 reaches its tenth edition. The program brings a series of themed huts and routes into the medieval lanes: Palazzo degli Alessandri, a fifteenth-century historic residence in the San Pellegrino quarter, hosts Santa Claus's House and the Children's Post Office, where every young visitor can mail a letter. In Via San Gemini stands the Befana's House, while the Torre Scacciaricci welcomes the Grinch's Lair.
There are two novelties for 2026/27. At Parco del Paradosso, in Pianoscarano, Harry Christmas opens, where visitors enter the school of magic of the world's most famous wizard; alongside the attractions already known comes the Slitta Express VR, which joins the Christmas atmosphere with virtual reality. The Ice World, populated by polar bears and penguins, and Rudolph's Stable, with the red-nosed reindeer, remain.
Those who prefer a route without a ticket will find the Nativity scene, free admission from November 28 in the courtyards of the Comune, the Frozen Lake for skating in Largo Benedetto Croce and the Antica Giostra in Piazza dei Caduti. From December 5 to January 6 the Traditional Christmas Market occupies Via Marconi.
The opening calendar is not continuous. The village is open on November 21 and 22, November 28 and 29, December 5 to 8, December 12 and 13, December 19 and 20 and then every day from December 24 to January 6. The days in between are closed, among them November 23 to 27, November 30 to December 4, December 9 to 11, December 14 to 18 and December 21 to 23.
San Pellegrino is the medieval quarter of Viterbo, where the gray peperino stone of the houses and the Alessandri tower make up a scene that has drawn more than one film crew. On Via San Pellegrino stands the Museo della Macchina di Santa Rosa, in the seat of the Sodalizio dei Facchini, which keeps the models of the earlier machines.
To get oriented in the city you can start from the Viterbo page. The same quarter is also home to La Notte di Mezzo, and for the city's best-known tradition there is the page on the Macchina di Santa Rosa.
It opens on Saturday, November 21, 2026, and closes on January 6, 2027, with intermediate closing days listed in the official calendar.
Admission to the historic center is free; the attractions are paid and online purchase carries a 2 euro presale fee.
The ticket office is in Piazza San Carluccio; tickets can also be bought online from the viterbochristmas.it site.
