Two men on the parapet of Tower Bridge, at night, each determined to end it all and each convinced he must save the other. From this premise comes the first comedy to bring together onstage Costa's Sicilian, surreal humor and Caiazzo's Neapolitan irony. Below you will find the dates, the plot, the two leads, Teatro Golden, how to get there and how to organize the evening in San Giovanni.
Un ponte per due plays at Teatro Golden from January 7 to 17, 2027, over two long weekends, Thursday to Sunday. It is the last title of the theater's autumn 2026 subscription on Via Taranto.
First weekend: Thursday, January 7 and Friday, January 8 at 21:00, Saturday the 9th at 17:00 and 21:00, Sunday the 10th at 17:00. Second weekend: Thursday the 14th and Friday the 15th at 21:00, Saturday the 16th at 17:00 and 21:00, Sunday the 17th at 17:00, the last performance.
For Un ponte per due Teatro Golden lists a full-price ticket of 35 euros at the box office and 30 euros online. Reductions for under-21s, over-65s, Cral members and legal categories are requested by contacting the box office. The theater notes that prices may change.
The show closes the autumn 2026 subscription, which runs from October to January with five titles: Chiamalo ancora amore, Ti posso spiegare, La scommessa, L'ultima svolta and Un ponte per due. The subscription price listed by the theater starts at 125 euros.
Un ponte per due is set in London, at night, on Tower Bridge: the opening caption published by the Golden is Londra, esterno notte, Tower Bridge.
Antonello, an emigrant in despair, climbs over the wall of the bridge and hangs between life and the Thames. Paolo, a fellow countryman passing by, tries to stop him, or perhaps not: he too, in truth, is there for the same reason. The two confess to each other, and to exorcise their misfortunes they tell them in a contest of bad luck.
Every time they are on the wall, set on the last step, strangely similar characters burst in. Big Ben marks the passing of time, hunger prompts them to call a delivery rider for the whim of diving on a full stomach, and outside interventions multiply until Antonello's daughter arrives.
A clash with his daughter leaves Antonello bitter and dazed. Meanwhile the sun rises, and in a night of continuous stop and go a friendship has been born. Will they give up the dive? The official presentation leaves the answer to the audience, and ends with the idea that sometimes it is good to talk, even just to yourself.
The director's notes speak of a brilliant comedy with a tight rhythm and deeply human tones, an ironic reflection on contemporary fragilities, between personal crises and obsession with social media. The theme of the leap into the void is treated as in many classic comedies: the shadow of tragedy serves to make people laugh, and to make them think.
The text of Un ponte per due, which the theater also presents with the spelling UnPonteper2, is written jointly by Antonello Costa and Paolo Caiazzo. The director is Caiazzo.
The Golden's presentation stresses that this is the first time the two comedians are onstage together: a meeting of two different but complementary styles. On one side Costa's visual flair and his brilliant, surreal comedy, able to move from parody to mime, from singing to the comic sketch character. On the other Caiazzo's subtle, pointed Neapolitan irony.
Alongside the two leads are Mirko Ciccariello and Gioia Consiglio. The plot suggests that the many characters who interrupt the pair's attempts on the bridge fall to them: the presentation speaks of strangely similar characters, and the play of multiple roles is one of the comic keys of the evening.
The show is produced by Gruppo Le Muse. The declared promise is to blend comedy, emotion, theatrical rhythm and comic inventions.
Antonello Costa is a comedian and actor born in Augusta, in the province of Syracuse, on July 26, 1970. He lives permanently in Rome, where he performs very often.
He debuted in 1985 with classic shows. In the following years he worked in cinema as an assistant director, on Italiani in 1996 and Fratelli coltelli in 1997, both directed by Maurizio Ponzi. As an actor he appears in 2061, un anno eccezionale by Carlo Vanzina and in Rosanero by Andrea Porporati.
He has a 30-year career in cabaret, with appearances on programs such as Maurizio Costanzo Show, Sabato italiano, Casa Raiuno, Cominciamo bene and Suonare Stella. He performs live in Italian theaters and arenas, including Teatro Manzoni, and has collaborated with Maurizio Battista. In recent years his sketches have aired on regional channels such as Teleroma 56.
Among his shows are L'artista, Calmi, rilassati oh!, Vieni avanti provino, A me gn'occhi, please, A tutto costa sempre più and Costa Crociere un viaggio tutto da ridere. In 2021 he released the record Chiedo il rimborso. In 2005 he starred in a television commercial alongside Michael Schumacher.
Paolo Caiazzo is an actor and cabaret performer born in San Giorgio a Cremano on October 19, 1967, the same town at the gates of Naples that gave birth to Massimo Troisi.
He took his first steps at 20, in 1987, at the Bottega Teatrale del Mezzogiorno at Teatro Cilea in Naples, under the direction of Antonio and Maurizio Casagrande, where he began his career as a comic actor.
After a long apprenticeship on Campania's private television channels he reached national programs: Quelli che il calcio, Bulldozer, Colorado Cafè, Zelig Off, Made in Sud, up to Made in Caiazzo on Rai 2 in 2019. He also writes one of the editorial sketches of Ballarò. His best-known character is Tonino Cardamone, a young pensioner, the protagonist of a book and several shows.
From 2005 he returned to the theater with pieces he wrote himself, brought to Teatro Acacia, Trianon and the Augusteo in Naples. From 2014 to 2016 he was Tonino Esposito in Benvenuti in casa Esposito, written with Pino Imperatore and Alessandro Siani. In cinema he debuted in 2012 with Impepata di nozze. Ci devo pensare and Finalmente sposi by Lello Arena followed. In 2008 he received the Massimo Troisi lifetime achievement award.
The most obvious curiosity is geographic. Two comedians from the South, a Sicilian from Augusta and a Neapolitan from San Giorgio a Cremano, set their first comedy together not in Naples or Palermo but in London, on Tower Bridge, with the chime of Big Ben marking the hours. Antonello's character is an emigrant: the comedy also speaks, lightly, of Italians who seek their fortune abroad and find themselves alone in a big city. The choice of London takes the two leads out of their natural environment and forces them to meet as fellow countrymen, in a place where their way of speaking immediately becomes a sign of recognition. A second curiosity concerns the title, which the theater also writes UnPonteper2: a phone-message spelling, consistent with the director's notes that speak of obsession with social media. A third concerns Caiazzo. He was born in the town of Massimo Troisi, and in 2008 he received the very award named after Troisi for his career, presented by the mayor of San Giorgio a Cremano. A fourth is for those who know Costa: the presentation recalls his ability to move from mime to song to comic sketch character, and in a comedy full of characters bursting onto the bridge it is easy to expect a few transformations in plain view.
Teatro Golden was born in December 2009 in San Giovanni, at Via Taranto 36, from the restoration of the former Cinema Golden. It has 300 seats and a central stage with the audience arranged around it, similar to an arena according to the theater's website.
The history published by the theater says that the former Cinema Golden had become a bingo hall and then remained abandoned for more than 12 years. The restoration project gave the space back its original cultural function.
The program is devoted above all to brilliant comedy by contemporary Italian authors, with room for singer-songwriter concerts, morning classics for schools and dance shows by young national and international companies. The season runs from September to May. June and July are reserved for the school's end-of-year shows.
The Golden's booking form distinguishes two sections, the platea and the aletta. In a hall with the stage in the center, the choice of section changes the point of view on the scene more than the distance from the actors: with 300 seats, nobody is really far away. Those with preferences can state them in the form's message or ask the box office for advice.
Inside the theater the Teatro Golden Academy was born, a training center for the performing arts divided into Golden Actors, Golden Dance and Golden Music, for professionals and amateurs. The artistic direction is by Andrea Maia, who is also the theater's founder.
What is not said enough about Teatro Golden is the shape of the hall. The website describes it as a theater with a central stage and the audience around it, arena-style: not the classic Italian-style box with the curtain and all the seats on one side. For a comedy built on two men standing on a parapet, with characters constantly coming and going, it is a particular condition: the actors perform for an audience that surrounds them, and anyone seated in one section sees the scene from a different angle than someone seated opposite. The theater's booking form distinguishes between platea and aletta: it is best to ask the box office which section offers the most suitable view. The second thing concerns the audience. The Golden declares 3,000 subscribers, and Un ponte per due is the last title of the autumn subscription: that means many performances will have a large share of seats already taken by subscribers. Those buying a single ticket do well to move early, especially for Saturday. The third thing is that on Saturday there are two performances, at 17:00 and 21:00: the Saturday matinee is a rare option in Roman theaters, convenient for those coming from out of town or for those with children to settle in the evening.
Tickets for Un ponte per due are bought on the website of Teatro Golden, which links to the authorized presale network, or at the box office at Via Taranto 36.
The full price costs 30 euros online and 35 euros at the box office. The box office and the school's office are open every day from 15:00 to 20:00. There is also a WhatsApp service at 06 70493826, the same number as the phone.
On the show's page the theater offers a booking form, with a choice of date, time, number of tickets and section, platea or aletta.
Reductions for under-21s, over-65s, Cral members and legal categories are obtained by contacting the box office, which handles the purchase of reduced tickets directly.
My advice is to choose the performance according to the kind of evening you want. Those who want the comedy as the end of a day in Rome can aim for the Saturday matinee at 17:00: you come out early, and the whole evening is left for dinner in San Giovanni or a metro ride to the center. Those who prefer the evening atmosphere should choose Saturday at 21:00 or one of the Thursdays, when the audience is more local. Sunday at 17:00 is the classic family performance. On price, the difference between online and the box office is five euros on the full price: it is best to buy on the website, except for those entitled to a reduction, who go through the box office. In our view it is worth asking, if possible, for a seat with a good view of the parapet: in the Golden's arena-style hall position matters, and a comedy made of glances, hesitations and steps back on the edge of the bridge deserves to be seen up close. Finally, a suggestion for those who don't know the two leads: spending a few minutes before the show on one Costa sketch and one Caiazzo sketch helps you recognize the two styles the direction sets against each other, and makes the interplay between the first's surreal humor and the second's Neapolitan irony more fun.
Teatro Golden is at Via Taranto 36, in San Giovanni, and is served by metro line A, stops Re di Roma and San Giovanni, and by metro line C, stop San Giovanni.
The theater's website lists line A with the Re di Roma and San Giovanni stops, and line C with the San Giovanni stop, where the two lines cross. For those arriving from Termini line A is the simplest solution.
The theater also lists lines 650 and 8. The updated route and the evening schedules can be checked on the ATAC route planner.
The Golden lists two garages nearby: Garage Monza at Via Monza 32 and Autorimessa Urbino at Via Urbino 49. San Giovanni is a densely populated district, and street parking on Saturday night can take time.
Many people know that Paolo Caiazzo comes from Colorado and Made in Sud. Less often cited is that his training is strictly theatrical and tied to one of the family dynasties of Neapolitan comedy: the Bottega Teatrale del Mezzogiorno at Teatro Cilea, directed by Antonio Casagrande and his son Maurizio. From there Caiazzo emerges as a comic actor, and only afterward comes television. Likewise, of Antonello Costa people mostly remember the television appearances and the cabaret shows. Less well known is that he worked in cinema behind the camera, as Maurizio Ponzi's assistant director on Italiani and Fratelli coltelli. A second fact known to the Golden's audiences and little told outside the district concerns the hall itself. The former Cinema Golden, before returning to culture, had been a bingo hall and then remained abandoned for more than 12 years. The 2009 restoration gave San Giovanni back a performance space. A third fact: the theater declares 3,000 subscribers, an important number for a hall of 300 seats, a sign of a very loyal neighborhood audience.
Teatro Golden is in the San Giovanni district, between Piazza Re di Roma and the Lateran basilica, one of the liveliest residential areas of the city.
The Basilica of San Giovanni in Laterano and the Holy Stairs are close to the San Giovanni metro stop: an afternoon visit combines well with the evening performance.
Not far away are Holy Cross in Jerusalem, the Basilica of the Santi Quattro Coronati and Santo Stefano Rotondo, three churches off the most crowded routes.
The streets around Via Taranto and Piazza Re di Roma have neighborhood shops and venues. On weekends they are lively until dinnertime.
With the afternoon performances on Saturday and Sunday at 17:00, Un ponte per due lends itself to becoming the close of a day in the San Giovanni quadrant, all on foot and by metro.
You can start from the Basilica of San Giovanni in Laterano and the Scala Santa, then continue toward Santo Stefano Rotondo and the Santi Quattro Coronati, on the Caelian Hill: an itinerary of ancient churches off the beaten track, ideal on a January morning.
After lunch in a trattoria in the area, a walk toward Santa Croce in Gerusalemme and then back to Via Taranto, with time to pick up tickets at the box office, open from 15:00.
Those who choose the 21:00 performance can reverse the order: a visit in the afternoon, an early dinner in the district, the comedy and the metro back. The Re di Roma and San Giovanni stops make the return easy toward Termini and the center.
No photos during the show: in an arena-style hall, with the audience arranged around the stage, a lit screen is visible from every side and distracts actors and spectators. The right photo is taken at the entrance of the Golden, on Via Taranto, with the poster of Un ponte per due: the official image shows the smiling faces of the two leads, in blue jackets, with Tower Bridge behind them, and is already a summary of the comedy. The second photo is taken before the show, at San Giovanni in Laterano, on the basilica square, especially in the light of late afternoon in January. Those who want a game of echoes can look for a Roman bridge over the Tiber at sunset, for example Ponte Sisto, and photograph it as a counterpoint to the London bridge of the comedy. The third photo is a detail: the ticket with the UnPonteper2 spelling, next to the poster. In any case no flash and no video during the applause, unless the theater says otherwise.
Around Teatro Golden, between Via Taranto and Piazza Re di Roma, there are pizzerias, trattorias and neighborhood bars.
Lunch in a trattoria in the area and then the theater at 17:00: the simplest combination for Saturday and Sunday.
After 21:00, on the way out, the neighborhood pizzerias are the quickest choice. On Saturday night it is best to book, because San Giovanni is an area frequented by Romans from other districts too.
The history of the building at Via Taranto 36 is read in three phases, as the theater's pages tell it. The first is that of Cinema Golden, the movie house from which the theater took its name. The second phase is the transformation into a bingo hall, followed by a long abandonment: more than 12 years in which the space remained closed, in a central and strategic position in the city. The third phase begins in December 2009, when the restoration and conversion project directed by Andrea Maia gave the building back its original cultural function and opened Teatro Golden. From that moment, according to the website, the hall built a close relationship first with the local audience and then, with a wide advertising campaign, with spectators from all over the city. In the years after the opening the Teatro Golden Academy was born, with its acting, dance and music sections, and the theater came to count 3,000 subscribers. The 2026/2027 season continues along this line, with an autumn subscription of five comedies that closes precisely with Un ponte per due, and with out-of-subscription events such as Edith, il passerotto di Francia and Siamo tutti s-connessi.
For information on access and reserved seats for people with disabilities, it is best to contact the Teatro Golden box office at 06 70493826, also on WhatsApp, before buying.
Un ponte per due is a brilliant comedy suited to an audience of adults and young people. The starting theme, two men determined to jump off a bridge, is treated in a comic key, but for smaller children it may be a premise to explain beforehand. The reduced ticket for under-21s makes the Sunday afternoon performance interesting for families.
The first half of January is the moment of the return to routine after the holidays. The Golden, in a district of shops and services, is convenient for those who want to combine a day in the city with a comedy.
Teatro Golden has a recent history, begun in 2009, and a precise vocation: contemporary Italian brilliant comedy. From its central stage have passed in these years authors, companies and comedians who have made the Golden one of the reference points for comedy in Rome, and the theater has welcomed singer-songwriter concerts, dance shows by young national and international companies, and classics for schools. The founder and artistic director Andrea Maia is the constant presence of this story, together with the students of the Golden Academy who every summer take over the stage with the end-of-year shows. In the 2026/2027 season, before Un ponte per due, Chiamalo ancora amore, Ti posso spiegare, La scommessa and L'ultima svolta have passed or will pass through Via Taranto, and out of subscription Siamo tutti s-connessi, Ripetizioni d'amore and Edith, il passerotto di Francia. From January 7 to 17 come Antonello Costa, a Sicilian from Augusta turned Roman by adoption, who knows the city's theaters well, from the Manzoni to the stages of television comedy. Paolo Caiazzo, raised in the school of the Casagrandes at Teatro Cilea and become a face of Colorado and Made in Sud. And with them Mirko Ciccariello and Gioia Consiglio. For the Golden it is the last title of the autumn subscription.
Un ponte per due plays at Teatro Golden in Rome from January 7 to 17, 2027: Thursday and Friday at 21:00, Saturday at 17:00 and 21:00, Sunday at 17:00. The theater is at Via Taranto 36, in San Giovanni.
For Un ponte per due Teatro Golden lists a full-price ticket of 30 euros online and 35 euros at the box office. Reductions are available for under-21s, over-65s, Cral members and legal categories, to be requested at the box office.
The cast of Un ponte per due is Antonello Costa and Paolo Caiazzo, the authors of the comedy, with Mirko Ciccariello and Gioia Consiglio. The director is Paolo Caiazzo, and the production is by Gruppo Le Muse.
Un ponte per due tells the story of two Italians on the parapet of Tower Bridge in London, at night, both determined to jump into the Thames. They confess their misfortunes in a contest of bad luck, interrupted by ever-different characters, until dawn and a new friendship.
Teatro Golden is reached by metro line A, stops Re di Roma and San Giovanni, and by metro line C, stop San Giovanni. The theater also lists lines 650 and 8. By car there are Garage Monza at Via Monza 32 and Autorimessa Urbino at Via Urbino 49.
The Teatro Golden box office is open every day from 15:00 to 20:00, by phone and on WhatsApp at 06 70493826. It is at Via Taranto 36, where tickets, including reduced ones, are picked up and bought.
Yes, the Teatro Golden presentation describes Un ponte per due as the first time onstage together for Antonello Costa and Paolo Caiazzo, who wrote the comedy jointly.
A new comedy, two comedians who had never performed together, an arena-style hall with a very loyal audience: Un ponte per due has the right ingredients for an evening of intelligent laughter in a January that usually has few. In our view the main curiosity is to see how Costa's surreal humor and Caiazzo's Neapolitan irony fit together on the same parapet. The advice is to buy online to save money, choose the Saturday matinee if you want the evening free, and book early, because the Golden's subscribers are many.
