«Può un'adolescente cambiare il mondo?»
Text from the official Cultura Roma Capitale page (service translation: “Can a teenage girl change the world?”), source
The show, written and performed by Annalisa Arione and Dario De Falco, won the Eolo Awards in 2022 as best show for teenagers. It tells of Martina, fourteen, who has a carnivorous plant named Yvonne, white earbuds and an attentive father who works from home, and of Alessandro, who falls in love with her almost at once.
The theme is teenage love when it is mistaken for possession. The text follows a first kiss that differs from the one dreamed of, families that do not resemble the ones people wish for, and Martina's choice to think of herself as whole and say stop, a gesture that sets off a chain reaction.
The presentation also cites some data on violence in relationships among teenagers and explains that the company believes emotions and relationships deserve to be discussed openly.
On stage are a female and a male narrator, who tell the audience the characters' moods while they play them. The space is empty: the settings are drawn by the actors' bodies and by the music of Enrico Messina.
The work grew out of workshops on equality and gender stereotypes with preteens and teenagers. The stage movement is by Annalisa Cima, with the advice of a psychiatrist and of a psychologist and psychotherapist. The event is included in the Roma Capitale call «Lo spettacolo dal vivo fuori dal Centro 2026», supported by the Ministry of Culture.
Among the four halls of the Teatri in Comune network of Roma Capitale is the one in Ostia, on Via delle Sirene. «Storia di un No» is part of SomministrArte, the program for audiences aged 3 to 18 and for families, running from October 7 to December 22, 2026.
Other offerings at the theater this fall are Chi ha paura del buio, Pasoliniana site specific and the spoken word evening with Isidoro Concas.
