Updated November 6, 2026.

The event

Born in Moscow in 2011, Pussy Riot made artistic performance a space for protest, change and feminist struggle, a path that made the Russian collective an international symbol of protest and freedom of expression.

«Riot Days» is a show drawn from the book of the same name by Maria Alyokhina, one of the collective's founders, which recounts her experience of protest, police violence and detention in Moscow. A German theater that hosted the show describes the work as one that also draws on her second book, «Political Girl», and addresses themes such as violence against the LGBTQ+ community, the story of Alexei Navalny and the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The form is a multimedia experience that mixes live music, spoken word, video and performance. In accounts of other dates the sound is built with saxophone, drums and electronics, and the words, in Russian, are accompanied by translations projected on a screen.

Opening are New Age Doom, an experimental platform born in Canada around the duo Eric J. Breitenbach and Greg Valou, with a changing group of musicians. At a Dutch date in 2025 the performance was a solo set by drummer Breitenbach.
