The event

The show, whose Italian title means «Little Stories Without Words», grew out of meetings with different directors who were asked to create short pieces for glove puppet. Each story has its own particularity and develops a world of its own.

The order in which the stories are presented offers a view of the puppet that moves from a classical form to a more contemporary one, and each story is an original musical creation by Jean-Luc Ponthieux.

It opens with «Le sac»: three strangely similar puppets meet a voracious bag, in the myth of the big bad wolf revisited for puppets, bag and stick. In «Petit Sisyphe» a somewhat lunar puppet confronts the hand that makes it up, in an allegory: what I do to others, I do to myself. In «OEdipe» a puppet, so eager to escape the little theater that confines it, manages to pull the puppeteer out of his hiding place and mistreats him to win its freedom: which of the puppeteer and the puppet is master of the game?

Where it takes place: Teatro Torlonia

All the theater's decorations are the work of Costantino Brumidi, known in the United States as the «Michelangelo of America» for his fresco in the Capitol in Washington. The date 1874 is carved on the north portico and on the proscenium arch. In the park: obelischi and Villa Torlonia.
