James McVinnie and Tristan Perich present a reinterpretation of «Infinity Gradient», a composition for organ and speakers conceived in relation to the architecture and acoustics of the basilica and its historic Tamburini Op. 99 organ.
The concert is part of «Organum Multiplum», a festival of contemporary music for organ promoted by Villa Lontana, now in its second edition and imagined as a sonic and spiritual journey across Rome. The lineup also names Ellen Arkbro, Heinali and Andriana-Yaroslava Saienko with Hampus Lindwall, Steve Reich and Sollmann Sprenger. In the 2025 edition the concerts were free with reservation, in the churches of Santa Maria degli Angeli e dei Martiri, San Luigi dei Francesi, Santo Stefano Rotondo and Nostra Signora del Santissimo Sacramento e dei Santi Martiri Canadesi.
The basilica stands at the top of the Capitoline Hill, above the 124-step staircase that starts from Piazza d'Aracoeli. It is a place of worship and entry is free. A second, side entrance avoids the staircase. The full page is Basilica of Santa Maria in Aracoeli.
