Joe Barbieri is a Neapolitan singer-songwriter, producer and composer. Discovered by Pino Daniele, he has worked with Omara Portuondo, Jorge Drexler and Stacey Kent, received two nominations for the Targhe Tenco and won a Premio Lunezia. Besides writing for himself, he works as a producer and songwriter for other artists and as a composer for theater and television.
The concert explores the link between his music and cinema. At its center is his new instrumental, cinematic album of the same title, «Cantabile». Several of his best-known songs are reworked in symphonic arrangements, and the program includes pieces taken from film music and adapted for the occasion.
On stage with him are a string quintet and a wind player: Andrea Esposito and Paolo Sasso on violin, Luigi Tufano on viola, Marco Pescosolido on cello, Daniele Sorrentino on double bass and Andrea Santaniello on woodwinds.
The Teatro Studio Borgna is one of the halls of Auditorium Parco della Musica Ennio Morricone, the complex at Viale Pietro de Coubertin 30 in the Flaminio district (see the Flaminio district guide). The same complex also hosts the Argerich and Capuçon Beethoven concert in 2027.
