How Romantic by Katerina Andreou and Carte Blanche at Teatro Vascello: Saturday, November 7, 2026

The event

Katerina Andreou, born in Athens and based in France, signs the choreography, the concept and, together with Cristián Sotomayor, the sound design; Sotomayor also arranged the music. The starting point is the American dance marathons of the late 1920s and 1930s, born during the Great Depression: a test of physical and mental endurance in which, in the author's reading, there are no winners or losers.

Fourteen dancers of the company are on stage: Adrian Bartczak, Aslak Aune Nygård, Brecht Bovijn, Dawid Lorenc, Gaspard Schmitt, Ihsaan de Banya, Iris Auguste, Mai Lisa Guinoo, Nadege Kubwayo, Noam Eidelman Shatil, Núria Guiu Sagarra, Ola Korniejenko, Ole Martin Meland and Olha Mykolayivna Stetsyuk. Lighting is by Yannick Fouassier, costumes by Indrani Balgobin, and the assistant artist is Costas Kekis.

The production is supported by Dance Reflections by Van Cleef and Arpels and by the Norwegian Embassy; it is presented in the city by Fondazione Romaeuropa.

Where it takes place: Teatro Vascello

Teatro Vascello is in Monteverde. It was born in 1989 from the renovation of Cinema Vascello, built in 1946; the entrance, atrium and foyer were redone in 1995. The hall is multipurpose and can be arranged in different configurations, with tiered seating for 400.
