The event

Why Gazpacho? Because it sounds good and it is a fresh dish: the title, the author explains, has nothing to do with the content. In his fourth stand-up comedy monologue Davide Calgaro talks about his relationship with his five siblings and his parents, the difficulty of handling small talk, failed sexual experiences and the attempt to quit smoking.

Calgaro was born in Milan, where he lives, on August 18, 2000. At thirteen he approached the theater with the Milan school «Quelli di Grock», which he attended for five years. While studying at the Tito Livio classical high school he began, at fifteen, to write and try out comic monologues in the Milan comedy workshops and took part in shows by several cabaret and stand-up companies in the city.

In 2017 he made his television debut with «Stand Up» on Comedy Central, Sky channel 124. Over the years he has appeared as an actor in several films and TV series. The show is in Italian and deals with personal and adult themes.

It is a good fit for stand-up: the capacity, inherited from a single-screen hall, is modest, so the audience stays close to whoever is on stage. The stage stands where films were once shown in the old Trastevere cinema (Via Cardinale Merry del Val 14).
