Sunday, December 13, 2026, 20:30
Teatro Italia (Roma), ROMA (RM)
On Saint Lucy's Day, Teatro Italia is transformed into an enchanted world where dance meets the magic of fairy tales and the allure of the musical. Now in its 21st edition, the Festival delle Favole is dedicated to children and teenagers, who star in choreographies inspired by the stories that have made whole generations dream.
An event designed to celebrate dance and be enveloped in wonder, a few days before Christmas. As tradition has it, the most original and surprising choreography will receive a special prize, a symbol of the creativity and imagination that animate every edition.
Notes
Artistic direction by Rita Galdieri, dance teacher and UNESCO member.
Text from the official Teatro Italia site, show page, source
The festival has a competitive element: as tradition has it, the choreography judged most original receives a special prize. The presentation doesn't say which dance schools or groups take part, or how many choreographies are on the program. It describes Rita Galdieri as a dance teacher and UNESCO member. Pay attention to the time: the official poster gives a different one from that on the show page, so before setting out it's best to ask for confirmation. For the families of the young dancers and for the interested public, the reference remains Teatro Italia, which can clarify the entry conditions.
Inaugurated in 1930 with a concert by Pietro Mascagni and reopened in 2006 after restoration, Teatro Italia hosts, alongside drama and concerts, dance shows as well. Next to the main hall it has two multipurpose rooms, one with 80 to 90 seats and one with 45 to 50, which the site offers for conferences, meetings, theater lessons and presentations. The theater stands in the Nomentano district, at number 18 on Via Bari, and is outside the limited traffic zone. Among the season's other dance events is Fire of Georgia by the Royal National Ballet of Georgia. The city's Christmas offerings are collected in the guide to Christmas in Rome.
