Updated November 3, 2026.
Favole di Luce is the Christmas season event with which Gaeta, in southern Lazio, lights up its town center for more than two months. The Municipality organizes it, with the Pro Loco as a partner. The new season starts on Saturday, November 7, 2026, and closes on Sunday, January 10, 2027, a span that covers the whole holiday period.
The opening night is entrusted to «CAIETA: Corpi di Luce», a site-specific show conceived and directed by the director and choreographer Mvula Sungani. Site-specific means the action is made not for a theater but for the places themselves: the route crosses the town center and starts from Piazza XIX Maggio. The regional VisitLazio calendar lists the same appointment under the title «Armonie in Movimento» and describes it as a meeting of dance, music and voice for all ages.
The organizers have not yet released the list of installations for 2026/27: the official page announces that photos of the new works will be published soon. To get a sense of the character of the event there are the images of the 2017 to 2024 editions, which show, among others, the Fontana di San Francesco, the Palmaraies, Dante, the Drago Zu, Tic Toc the talking bell tower, the Lion King with the enchanted forest and the Orsetto pasticcione.
Piazza XIX Maggio is the starting point of the inauguration and one of the event's three info points, together with Villa delle Sirene and Piazza della Libertà. The town hall of Gaeta stands on the square, built in the same position as the earlier building. The city occupies a rocky peninsula joined to the mainland by an isthmus, with the medieval quarter on the tip and the modern town along the bay. For an overview of the place, the Gaeta page collects the essentials; the Sant'Agostino beach is also on the city shoreline.
The event runs from Saturday, November 7, 2026, to Sunday, January 10, 2027, with the inauguration on November 7 in Piazza XIX Maggio.
«CAIETA: Corpi di Luce» is conceived and directed by the director and choreographer Mvula Sungani. The regional calendar also lists it as «Armonie in Movimento».
Prices are not given on the official page that was read; anyone with doubts can write to favolediluce@comune.gaeta.lt.it.
The organizers point to Piazzale Avir for cars. Buses get free parking by reservation; campers have a dedicated area without services.
The reference station is Formia-Gaeta, on the line to Naples; from there Gaeta is reached by local bus or by taxi.
