“Dylan Dog Horror Show” is Sergio Bonelli Editore’s first theatrical production and arrives for the 40th anniversary of the nightmare investigator, who first appeared on newsstands on September 26, 1986 with “L’alba dei morti viventi,” written by Tiziano Sclavi, drawn by Angelo Stano and with a cover by Claudio Villa. The text is by Nicola Russo and the direction by Valter Malosti, who calls it an immersive show and describes it simply as theater, neither a straight play nor a musical.
The story begins with Veronika, a mysterious client who brings Dylan Dog a new case. To solve it, the investigator has to face his own past: the women in his life, namely Anna Never, Morgana, Lillie Connolly and Bree Daniels, his nemesis Xabaras and his friends Groucho, Inspector Bloch and Madame Trelkovski.
Dylan Dog is played by Gabriele Graham Gasco and Groucho by Loris Fabiani. On stage with them are Marit Nissen (Veronika), Ida Marinelli (Madame Trelkovski), Antonino Iuorio (Inspector Bloch), Dario Battaglia (Xabaras) and Danilo Nigrelli (a multi-personality demon), while Camilla Nigro, Beatrice Vecchione, Annamaria Troisi and Sofia Fusciani play Bree Daniels, Lillie Connolly, Morgana and Anna Never.
The music is live, performed by a power trio: Paolo Spaccamonti on guitar, Luca Cavina on bass and Jacopo Battaglia on drums. The production involves 90 people between actors and technicians, and the theater’s foyer hosts an experiential space dedicated to the Dylan Dog universe.
Teatro Eliseo, at Via Nazionale 183, has hosted performances since 1900, and Eduardo De Filippo, Monica Vitti, Anna Magnani and Vittorio Gassman have all appeared on its stage. After a long closure it reopened under the new management of Alessandro Longobardi, and this show opened the season: previews from October 22, debut on October 28, 2026.
For the theater itself, see the Teatro Eliseo page; the program of Piccolo Eliseo, with titles such as Life Is a Flower and Delitto e castigo, is also listed.
