At the center is the conflict with one's own inner voice. On stage Frida, a former circus artist, faces Antero, a caustic and intrusive puppet who embodies her «inner demon»: the fear of failure, judgment, self-sabotage. The setting is a basement full of memories, props and fragments of life under the big top, from which Frida tries to return to her circus dream while Antero drags her toward doubt and giving up.
The official description speaks of juggling, visual theater, irony and tenderness, in a parable about the courage to believe in yourself and the strength needed to start again. Although the age guidance is from 6, the text calls it accessible to all ages.
Frida Odden Brinkmann is a Norwegian performer, juggler and author active in contemporary circus and visual theater. She trained at the Académie Fratellini in Paris, at Cirkuspiloterna in Stockholm and at AFUK in Copenhagen, and since 2008 she has worked professionally in Europe. Since 2012 she has developed her own creations in Norway. «Cirkus Antero» lasts 40 minutes, directed by David Skauen, with music by Steinar Raknes and sets and costumes by Leiko Fuseya.
Piazza Orazio Giustiniani 4 is the address of the former Mattatoio in Testaccio, the large complex built at the foot of Monte dei Cocci for meat processing and now converted into a cultural space. Here the Romaeuropa Festival brings shows, installations and workshops, with a section devoted to children and families.
The festival calendar at Mattatoio also includes Pianeta Mare Film Lab and Batu, artefactos bascos.
