«Amae no Kōzō» is a creation by Eliana Stragapede and Borna Babić, founders of the company Paper Bridge and former performers with the company Peeping Tom. The title draws on the Japanese concept of «amae», described by the psychiatrist Takeo Doi as the desire to entrust oneself to another and to receive love, care and indulgence from them; «kōzō» means «structure» or «anatomy».
From the meeting of the two terms comes a reflection on the deep nature of emotional dependence and human bonds. The performance crosses the complex territory of relationships, where closeness and distance, need and freedom, care and autonomy coexist in a fragile, shifting balance: on stage two bodies seek each other, support each other, hold each other back and move apart, creating a landscape in constant transformation.
With intense, physical choreographic writing, the work explores the vulnerability of being together. Concept, choreography and performance are by Borna Babić and Eliana Stragapede; the dramaturgy is by Margherita Scalise, the music by Nenad Kovačić, the voice by Teresa Campos. Produced by Twain Centro Produzione Danza and Paper Bridge; running time 50 minutes.
Teatro India occupies the old Mira factory, on the banks of the Tiber. The Municipality of Rome acquired the plant in 1913, when it switched to producing glycerin, and soap was later made there until its closure in 1952. After the purchase in 1999, the theater was inaugurated on September 7 of that year. Area: Ostiense, with the ex Mira Lanza and the ex Mattatoio.
15 euros: it is the exceptional November rate for dance shows.
